NewAngler Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Ole' Mikey is coming to DC. Its been a good month for Snyder with the firings of Cerrato and Zorn and the hirings of Bruce "the real deal" Allen and Mike "Back-to-back" Shanahan. Shanahan signs a 5 year deal at $7 mil per. WOAH! His son will be the offensice coordinator and there is some talk of him retaining Jason Campbell. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4799532 Quote
Super User Dan: Posted January 6, 2010 Super User Posted January 6, 2010 NO NO NO! "retaining Jason Campbell" = bad! Quote
NewAngler Posted January 6, 2010 Author Posted January 6, 2010 NO NO NO! WHY WHY WHY? You fool! this is a GREAT THING! Quote
Super User Dan: Posted January 6, 2010 Super User Posted January 6, 2010 The team will go nowhere as long as he is QB Quote
NewAngler Posted January 6, 2010 Author Posted January 6, 2010 Who knows man, they could retain him to be the "veteren mentor" and bring in my man Jimmy Clausen or Sammy B. It's easy to knock on a guy that hasn't had protection since his days in Auburn. But, I agree with you, I do not think he is the guy to take the skins to the Bowl, but he is a great leader and great community guy. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted January 6, 2010 Super User Posted January 6, 2010 In reference to your thread title.... Whatever you are smoking, don't get pulled over. DUI and possession are punishable offenses. ;D Quote
TommyBass Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 I agree, Jason Campbell is terrible. Well maybe not terrible, but he is more suited to be a backup somewhere than a franchise QB. They need someone better or they arn't going to change much. I like Shanahan though. Quote

1inStripes Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 The team will go nowhere as long as Dan Snyder is owner FIXED Quote
NewAngler Posted January 6, 2010 Author Posted January 6, 2010 The team will go nowhere as long as Dan Snyder is owner FIXED Well... Let us get real, he's making a crapload of money and won't sell the team anytime soon. He's finally listening to fans here in DC. He's basically put Shanahan in control of things.. Lets see what I'm going to be saying in 2 years. Maybe it will be "BRING BACK ZORN! BRING BACK ZORN" Until then, MIKEY IS MY BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I could do without the Coach K Rat Face look though. frogtog Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 All the money in the world won't help them win. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted January 6, 2010 Super User Posted January 6, 2010 Mike is good choice, and sounds like Synder is ready to give football decisions to those with the skill. Quote
Super User 5bass Posted January 6, 2010 Super User Posted January 6, 2010 I'm not trying to bust bubble's here but Shanahan is nothing without Elway. With Elway he has 2 rings. Without Elway he has what, 1 playoff win? Shanahan's demise in Denver kicked off right when he took over the GM job along with coaching the team. Now he's doing virtually the same jobs on a team with less talent. The one thing that should excite Redskins fans is that Bruce Allen is in the mix. He makes things happen and they're usually good things. Quote
quanjig Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Josh, you kill me. You sir are fully engulfed in some seriously horrible cool-aid!! On the other hand, guess who the best free agent QB on the market is???..... anyone? ..... anyone?........ yea, it's Jason!!! Unless there is an uncapped year, chances of the 'Skins even breaking even is a long shot next year. One can always have grape cool-aid dreams tho Josh.........nite-nite lil fella!! Quote
Uncle Leo Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 How many and when was the last Super Bowl that Denver won. Is Elway coming out of retirement also? No man can turn a team around this quickly with the talent that the Redskins have. This coaching change will make a differance but never this soon. Change your Avatar. Quote
VAfishin4me Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 AHHHHHHHHH! Don't even talk about Jason Cambell get him out of here. The skins are going nowhere. You see they go through these cycles of terrible seasons like this one, and then an ok season, so I'm betting they do OK next season. Quote
BassDeaton01 Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Speaking of terible QB's....We, the people of Carolina, will give you Delhomme gladly! As far as your subject line....hmmm not sure about that one. Maybe we will see a Carolina vs Washington Championship game next year?..... Quote
NewAngler Posted January 8, 2010 Author Posted January 8, 2010 Change your Avatar. Never. It's a good thing that Mike Shanahan can build running backs. Phew. John Elway was the number one over all in the draft of 1983. Terrell Davis? 6th round. Last time I checked that was the only thing missing in Elways career before the back to back bowls. I may not have been serious about the Skins winning the superbowl, I think they have to power, the ablity to build a strong team without much use of the top teir of the organization. That being said, I am let down every. single. year. Until then, I'm hyped, amped, and ready for the combine, draft and the free agency to kick off. THAT is where Redskins football happens. Quote
zero limit Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Thank god shanahan's got the job, now i don't have to worry that he's coming to the Bears next year. Quote
NewAngler Posted January 8, 2010 Author Posted January 8, 2010 Thank god shanahan's got the job, now i don't have to worry that he's coming to the Bears next year. They've already said Lovie Smith is staying. Or do you mean from a management point? Quote

VABassin'14 Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 First of all, whoever say Shanahan isn't a good coach is the one who is smoking something. Second, if you give Jason Campbell an O line, I'm sure he would be a fine QB. Third, the NFL is probably going to have an uncapped salary year, and we all know Snyder isn't afraid to spend some money. I truly believe that the Redskins will have a MUCH better season next year. Quote
zero limit Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 An uncapped year with free agents means pretty much nobody can sign other teams free agents there will be some lower tier players on the market Quote
quanjig Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Don't you mean "restricted" free agents? A free agent can go anywhere someone will pay them, a restricted free agent must stay if an offer is matched right? Quote
Super User 5bass Posted January 8, 2010 Super User Posted January 8, 2010 First of all, whoever say Shanahan isn't a good coach is the one who is smoking something. Al Davis might be smokin' something then. He kicked Shanahan to the curb a long time ago and kept his pay too. the NFL is probably going to have an uncapped salary year, and we all know Snyder isn't afraid to spend some money. I truly believe that the Redskins will have a MUCH better season next year. Yep, they might turn into the NFL's version of the NY Yankees. Quote
