Super User 5bass Posted December 13, 2009 Super User Posted December 13, 2009 Mir didnt waste any time, thats for sure. Quote
Super User 5bass Posted December 13, 2009 Super User Posted December 13, 2009 Good I really like Mir. I'm a Mir fan too. At one point the doctors said he'd never walk again, much less fight. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned BJ/Diego yet. I expected a little better fight than what actually happened. Quote

I can't afford 50 dollars to watch these fights when they first air :-[ haha BJ dropped Diego in the first round but couldn't finish. Basically, BJ punched Diego in the face for 4 1/2 rounds. Then he threw a head kick midway thru 5 and opened a 3" gash on Diego's forehead. Doctor decided to call it when he saw the gash. Diego tried his best to get it to the mat but he couldn't get BJ down, not even once. At the end, BJ looked like he did when he entered the cage. Diego looked like someone hit him in the face repeatedly with a baseball bat. Left eye was 80% closed, right eye 60% closed, nose broke, big gash in his lip, huge gash on his forehead and everything was turning purple. Total domination. Quote

Dang I thought Diego would've standed more of a chance. I figured BJ had the fight but i definitely wouldn't have guessed him just straight handling Diego like like that. Quote
Super User skunked_again Posted December 13, 2009 Author Super User Posted December 13, 2009 i thought BJ looked super sharp. when kenflo beat clay like he did i thought it looked bad for diego. i really liked the fight card. Quote
Speed Worm Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 Frank Mir weighed in at 264.5, 20 lbs heavier than his last fight. It really looks like he is getting ready for Mir vs Lesnar 3. I surely hope Brock Lesnar can fight in the UFC again. Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted December 13, 2009 Super User Posted December 13, 2009 Wow...I thought Deigo would have done better also..gotta hand it to BJ..wish I could have seen that.. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted December 14, 2009 Super User Posted December 14, 2009 I think Frank Mir is the best HW, not named Lesnar, in the UFC. His jitz game is sick, especially for a HW. Quote
Pitchinkid Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 Only thing is Brock is too dam big and strong. The fight card was excellent. Diego got caught early. Yeh his face was a mess. Paul Buentello( prob. spelled wrong) fight was good too. When he caught the 7 ft dude with a straight right when he was throwing the knee, i thought it was over. Looked like Arloski when he got caught by Fedor. But anyways, I dont think there is anybody at 155 that can beat Penn., which raises a good question. Which of the following fighters will lose first? BJ Penn , GSP, or Anderson Silva? Quote
Aaron Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 I think Mir is a top HW but I think some of the wrestlers can give him problems. I think a Carwin, Velasquez or a healthy Nog would give him a run for his money. Cigano would also be a challenge for him, imo. I also think it is a little early to judge this new, bigger Mir b/c that was a very short fight. I think he would gas in a fight that got late into the 2nd or 3rd rounds. I am a Kongo fan but he has pretty much no ground game so once he got down it was over. Also, BJ is a bad man. I don't think any one is going to beat him till they figure out how to take him down, and then it still won't be easy. Good card though, I enjoyed all fights. Quote
brushhoggin Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 how does the wwf still make money with stuff like this these days? Quote

Anderson gets cocky in fights though, i can see him getting caught. But it seems like everything he throws lands. If he keeps messing around at 205, i think somebody will catch him. At 185 though, i cant see it happening. Quote

For some reason I can't get the image of Serra beating GSP down outta my head. Honestly I cant think of anyone other than Silva doing it. But who knows. Maybe if Nate Marqaurdt stepped down it would get interesting. But I doubt it. Penn has been known to let his cardio slip (matt hughes fight) so I suppose he's capable of not showing up in shape and getting put in check late in a fight. I honestly want to see him lose, but let's be real Silva is lightyears ahead of everyone in the sport right now. Say what you like about Fedor, but when was the last time Silva was even tested?? He has that Muhhamed Ali kinda punching where he can knock people out going backwards. Did you see the griffin fight? It look like the friggin matrix. Quote
Super User 5bass Posted December 15, 2009 Super User Posted December 15, 2009 There should be odds on which one loses first, that's how good that question is. If I had to lay money on it, I'd probably go with GSP losing first. Quote
Pitchinkid Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 Speaking of the Forrest and Silva fight, what the hell. Something just didnt look right. Why the hell did he take off running out the ring and crying. I guess embarassment. I refuse to read his book now. Shogun should get another shot at Machida. IMHO, i thought Shogun won the first fight. Machida could give Silva a good fight if Silva wants to fight at 205 or Machida wants to drop, but there good friends and reuse to fight each other. Are there any good 145 at WEC that could fight at 155 to challenge Penn? Faber and Penn Would be interesting. Quote

He just took out Mike Brown (who beat Faber twice) like it was his freakin' job!!! I still think BJ would walk all over him. Quote
