Super User Dan: Posted December 7, 2009 Super User Posted December 7, 2009 Cute, Catt. But I would hardly call an OT comeback as "Romped" ;D Quote
Uncle Leo Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 Whipped is whipped, call it what you want. Should be a good Superbowl with the Colts and Saints. Quote
NewAngler Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 Not romped nor whipped, I have no idea what game you guys watched yesterday. Question for you guys... If you "fumbled" the football, but it was ruled you were down and the play was dead, would you try to go after the ball? Please answer as a fan of the game, and not of the Aints. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted December 7, 2009 Super User Posted December 7, 2009 That guy was down, IMO. Gotta give props to the coach for calling a TO there to give the booth a chance to call for review. Pretty smart. Quote

I'm not a fan of the Aints myself but the refs made the call and what they saw was a fumble. It looked like the ball came out before he was down to me. But like i said the refs get paid to make those calls and they ruled it a fumble. Regardless, the Redskins blew what should've been the Saints first loss. It would be nice to see the Saints and Colts both undefeated in the SB though. Too bad your skins didnt pull that one off man. Quote
Super User Catt Posted December 7, 2009 Author Super User Posted December 7, 2009 I don't know what play review y'all watched but please answer as a fan of the game, and not of the Skins fan. Quote

Are you kidding me? I am a diehard Steelers fan and I am calling it as down. I think you made your Gumbo a little too strong yesterday.... Quote
Uncle Leo Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 Does this make it less painful? http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1260121561 Quote
Super User Catt Posted December 7, 2009 Author Super User Posted December 7, 2009 Yelp the officals were out to beat the Skins plain and simple Quote
NewAngler Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 As a fan of the game, Catt, it was a fumble.but the ref called the player down, and the play was called dead. Correct? Why would a player try to get a "dead" ball. They wouldn't. I'd like see see your answer. And for the record... YES my team blew the lead. 3 times. YES they blew the game twice by not having ball security. YES they blew the game by missing a 23 yard field goal. Catt, I'm not trying to start a battle or an Irene thread, but you cannot tell me you think that was the correct call. And to be honest even if it was the correct call they probably would have blown it later in the drive. Quote

NewAngler Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 You seem like a Saints fan only, so I doubt you saw the replay on "the fastest 3 minutes" last night on MNF. I stand by comment that it was a fumble but the ref called the play dead. Therefore anything happening after that should be non existant. Your lack of response and my attitude is the difference between a homer and a fan of fair play. Quote
Uncle Leo Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 My God does one play make the Redskins 3-9 or 4-8 really matter. For that matter does it matter if the Saints are 11-1 or 12-0. The only differnace is that one goes to the playoff and the other goes home. Quote
Super User Catt Posted December 8, 2009 Author Super User Posted December 8, 2009 If the referee's call were that final then we would not have instant replay I coached a national championship high school team and you teach the player do not give up on a play just because a whistle has blown because it may be in error. Big Mike in Fl Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 I didn't see the game, don't know the play, and I am a fan of neither team, but, what I know is, if there is a ball on the ground, if the ball is out, then the players play it AS A FUMBLE, even if blown dead, they're taught to secure the ball no matter what, just in case. so to say they shouldn't have gone after it while blown dead is incorrect, they play till secure. This is why you see so many incomplete passes where they go after the ball still, in the heat of the moment, they're not sure what the circumstances are other than a ball on the ground. so you play through the fumble, and let the refs and replay sort it out.
