bigtimfish Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Make your predictions. I hope ol "nightmare" puts it to him. Diego is an animal. But Penn is quite a scrapper. It will be good. Winner = Sanchez by decision Quote
Super User 5bass Posted November 22, 2009 Super User Posted November 22, 2009 BJ rules the lightweight division. Diego taps in Round 2. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted November 23, 2009 Super User Posted November 23, 2009 Sanchez CTFO by Penn in Rd 3. Bet. Quote
Big Tom Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Count me as another one for BJ by RNC. Not sure which round yet. If Diego comes out doing that reckless, swinging for the fences garbage, BJ might get the (T)KO before he gets the opportunity to choke him out. Quote
Fishing Doug Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Sanchez CTFO by Penn in Rd 3. Agreed. but I would not rule out this happening in Rd. 1 or 2.... Quote
SharkHat Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 Unfortunately I can't really stand either fighter, but BJ has fought some of the best in multiple weight classes, so I have to give him the advantage. Experience and his freak flexibility, and I just don't see Sanchez being that effective. Quote
Super User 5bass Posted November 24, 2009 Super User Posted November 24, 2009 I like BJ Penn. He's got crazy skills and if his opponent makes even one tiny mistake, it's game over. Quote

I think much of Rd 1 and 2 will be spent with BJ picking apart Sanchez on the feet, much like he did to Sean Sherk. Eventually Sanchez will shoot, Penn will sprawl, take it up against the cage and throw/take it to the mat. Sanchez gives up the back, Penn puts the meat hooks in and......VOILA!!! CTFO!! ;D Quote
Super User 5bass Posted November 24, 2009 Super User Posted November 24, 2009 The only thing that would give Diego the advantage is to get into the 4th or 5th round. His cardio is way better than BJ's. I dont see it going into the 4th or 5th round but stranger things have happened. Quote

Since he has started to focus solely on 155 (except for his GSP beatdown), his cardio and dedication to training have greatly improved. That fight at 170 he definitely looked like the old out-of-shape Penn, but he almost had to in order to make up the size difference w/ GSP. His fights at LW he looked to actually have some muscle definition. Why go to 4 or 5 when you can finish it in 2 or 3? ;D Quote

His cardio has been an issue since early on and still is, although not as bad as it was....it has improved. He's definitely better at 155, like you said but if the fight wears on, into 4 or 5, he's gassing before Diego. Quote
