Super User Matt Fly Posted October 18, 2009 Super User Posted October 18, 2009 Would you want to play for an owner that has openly spoke out against certain players in the league, specifically, Donavan McNabb and his quarterbacking capabilities? Thus players union objecting behind closed doors before this ever became reality. And no telling who else was lining up to make political statement if Rush was allowed to go thru with this. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted October 18, 2009 BassResource.com Administrator Posted October 18, 2009 Keep the political statements and comments out of this guys. That means don't even try to mention anything political. Period. Quote

The Rams play in a Stadium built with public tax dollars. If they continue in this city that won't change. It would seem there would be a slightly different set of standards and norms given that vs. the Rams playing in a self funded stadium. To my knowledge, State and St Louis elected officials have been moot on Limbaugh. I'm sure most consider his inclusion in the group a plus for keeping the team in St Louis. Quote

I'm still not seeing how any politicians are involved in the decision? Wasn't it the NFLPA or owners that decided against Rush? Quote

I believe there were some Rams players, speaking through the union, that indicated they wouldn't play for the team if Limbaugh was an owner. That , Sharpton and the owners themselves are the only ones I've heard with any opposition. I don't see where political figures would have a say nor have I heard anything. Quote

What did Limbaugh say WRT to McNabb's abilities? "I think what we've had here is a little social concern in the NFL. The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well,'' Limbaugh said. "There is a little hope invested in McNabb, and he got a lot of credit for the performance of this team that he didn't deserve. The defense carried this team." Quit talking out of your rear end... : Quote
done Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 You gotta know guys, IF Rush were to get a "voice" in the NFL as a team owner (even a minority owner), his background makes him dangerous. By that, First off, I mean he has a mouth like TO has shown in the past. He does not tow the line and would be extremely likely to talk out openly against the NFL leadership if he did not agree with them. Secondly, considering that, he has a nationally broadcast show that he could (and maybe would) use to inflict a lot of damage to the leagues rep. Now if the league thought they could control him, they would jump in the chance cause that same show could promote the NFL big time. But we all know there ain't no way they could control him. Quote
