BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted September 6, 2009 BassResource.com Administrator Posted September 6, 2009 For anyone following the roster cuts, which do you think is the most egregious bonehead move by any organization? I'll start with the Raiders cutting Garcia. They cut a seasoned veteran with a proven record so they could keep....Frye. DOH! Rumor has it he wanted a starting job and Al didn't agree - so he cut him. IMHO opinion, Al needs to leave the NFL. Everything he's touched in the past 2 decades has turned into dirt. I'm not a Raiders fan at all, but....man. I feel for anyone who is. Quote
Quitlimpin Posted September 6, 2009 Posted September 6, 2009 You are correct, Glenn. Davis has made nothing but terrible personnel decisions for many years. I may be wrong, but I really don't see Jamarcus Russell being the answer. Quote
Super User Tin Posted September 6, 2009 Super User Posted September 6, 2009 Glenn your Seahawks might be cutting Dion Branch, he is worth almost 4 mill this year and is their number three reciever. Pretty sad what has happened with him since he was greedy and left the Pats. They should trade him and see what they can get for picks or defensive help. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted September 6, 2009 Author BassResource.com Administrator Posted September 6, 2009 Yeah, I'm not worried if Branch is traded. They have plenty of talent at WR. On defense, they cut safety Russel and signed Lawyer Milloy - a definite upgrade, if only for one year. They put Trufant on IR, so that's gonna hurt. So I'd say it's a wash overall, until Trufant comes back. Then, watch out! Other than that, the Hawks defense is MUCH better than last year. The pass rush is greatly improved, thus making up for the lack of talent in the backfield. And they have extensive depth and talent at LB this year. The 'Hawks need some help on the O line, however. That's where I see a trade or pic helping. Quote
daviscw Posted September 6, 2009 Posted September 6, 2009 Where's Scott..... Whining over the Hokies getting whipped. ;D Quote
Super User Tin Posted September 6, 2009 Super User Posted September 6, 2009 Where's Scott..... Whining over the Hokies getting whipped. ;D They had no business be ranked that high up... Washington is giving LSU a scare. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted September 6, 2009 Super User Posted September 6, 2009 Where's Scott..... Whining over the Hokies getting whipped. ;D They had no business be ranked that high up... Washington is giving LSU a scare. I agree, but they played Alabama a lot closer than I thought they would... back on topic, the Redskins cut Chase Daniel and kept Colt Brennan. I dislike Colt Brennan, I think Chase is a better QB Quote
Super User burleytog Posted September 6, 2009 Super User Posted September 6, 2009 I agree, but they played Alabama a lot closer than I thought they would... Close in score only. Alabama beat the poop out of the cHokies in the 4th qtr Quote
Eddie Munster Posted September 6, 2009 Posted September 6, 2009 I thought the same thing Glenn. Al Davis is off his rocker..........again. N.Y. Giants released Tyree (who had the miracle catch in SB). I thought they should have kept him but understand it's a business. Cleveland Browns kept Jamal Lewis (at least for now) and K.C. Chiefs kept Larry Johnson. Both should have been let go in favor of the new talent, especially Lewis. The rookie James Davis is pretty good. Quote
NewAngler Posted September 6, 2009 Posted September 6, 2009 Yea, I'm pretty ticked about the chase daniel cut as well.. Hopefully they will wake up Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted September 6, 2009 Super User Posted September 6, 2009 I noticed Zach Thomas was cut from KC, 7 time probowler. Joey Harrington, the #2 pick overall in 2002 was cut. John David Booty, USC QB cut from Vikes. Eagles cut Joe Klecko's son, Dan. Eagles left Feeley on the roster since they put Vick on the "exempt list". I think Feeley gets left off the roster once Vick comes back. Seymour was traded to Oakland for first round pick for the Pats next year this morning. Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted September 6, 2009 Super User Posted September 6, 2009 IF any team out there is in need of a safety .... Expect to see Bernard Pollard in your neighborhood. I am sure he will sign quickly. Not sure why the Chiefs cut him?!?!?!!?! :-[ Quote

I'm not a Raiders fan at all, but....man. I feel for anyone who is. I agree with your post 100% !!! Garcia was the best QB on the team and I was actually a little excited when they signed him. They definitely got rid of the wrong QB. For the part in bold letters: Thanks for the sympathy, really. yeah, yeah....VT got beat. Even though I'm a VT fan, I kinda figured they'd lose. It's hard to win a game on sheer defense alone. VT has the same Offensive Coordinator and he's proven time and time again to be a mental midget. The defense can only hold off a decent offense so long....in this case, it was only slightly longer than 3 qtrs. Then they refused to guard Ingram anymore and he did what he wanted to do. Game over. VT doesnt have the offensive prowess to mount a 'come back' on a team like Alabama. Burley: I fixed your lame post. Quote

preach4bass Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 No, Michigan let a FCS team make the game exciting. ECU got up 24-0, took three quarters off, then decided to go ahead and finish the game off on the last play. Quote

Mattlures Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 I love the AFC west. The raiders had to release Garcia. He wanted to start and that was disruptive to Russell. Garcia is better but not the answer. The raider are not contenders and wont be for a while Garcia is a short term answer who is old. He would make a greta backup. Russell is not as good as Garcia but he feasably can become better and is young. If you starts Garcia the Raiders may win a couple more games but they wouldnt even come close to the playoffs and it would be a step backwards towards the future of quarterback. Oh how I love whats going on in Denver. Oh man. Cutler was over rated but still prety good. Now they will probably loose theri #1 reciever. Kansas city has broken quarterbacks and other issues. Realisticly you could sit out most of the Chargers first string and they would win the division. The Chargers will be the first team this year to clinch a playoff spot!!! Quote

Super User 5bass Posted October 15, 2009 Super User Posted October 15, 2009 Russell is not as good as Garcia Russell isnt as good as Jerry Garcia. It's a sad situation in Oaktown, dont get me started. Quote
BassDeaton01 Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 Ok I may be a little off subject but I am really ticked about how the Panthers are handling things! First, why didn't they try to pick up a QB a little bit better than McCown. I mean this guy is not a QB that is going to lead them to a Super Bowl. Secondly, why in the heck did they trade their first round draft pick??? We need that so we can get a new QB!!!! Delhomme needs to be done! Sorry guys you can go on with your subject now. I just had to rant a little. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted October 15, 2009 Super User Posted October 15, 2009 If I was Buffalo, they don't appear to be going anywhere fast,I'd put TO up for trade bait and accomplish two things, take care of any issues before they start and better your position for next year while TO is worth trading. I'd love to see TO traded to Baltimore who is currently going team to team and looking for possible #3 WR for future pick(s). Don't think Ray Lewis would put up with TO pulling that stuff. Anybody think San Diego messed up for letting Turner go to the Falcons last year? I mean LT was one year from the magical declining number for production, 30 yrs old. and he has significantly. Just food for thought. Quote
