Super User 5bass Posted August 9, 2009 Super User Posted August 9, 2009 Pelligrino over Neer (decision) Almeida over Grove (decision) Hendricks over Sadollah (a premature ref stoppage / round 1) Silva over Griffin (Silva was playing with Griffin, then knocked him out) BJ Penn over Florian (4th round tap, choke) Not the best card but I was glad to see BJ come back strong and finish Florian. Silva was smashing Griffin in the face whenever he wanted to and wasnt even holding his hands up to defend Forrest's punches. Knocked him down 3 times in first round....ref stopped it after the 3rd time. I guess BJ gets Diego Sanchez next for the belt. That's definitely going to be some 'must see TV'. Quote
Quitlimpin Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 Wow! I will no longer doubt Anderson again. Pinpoint accuracy and uber-quick. Was that Junior Seau in Forrest's corner? If not, it was a d**n good look-alike. Penn looked as good as I've seen him in a long time. And he's got the disadvantage of trying to fight with Rogan hanging from his sack. I still dislike him, but not as much. Florian is one tough dude. He just ran into a buzzsaw. Sadollah stoppage was pretty bad. Mirgliotta(sp?) was just doing his job but IMO he reacted too quickly(again). Quote
Little Luey Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 Silva seem a step ahead of Forrest the entire time; the part that was very unlike him was when he tried to help Forrest of the ground and was waving at him to "come on", I have never seen Silva do that and thought it was kind of out of character, borderline poor sportmanship on his part. But then Forrest did the same when he ran out of the ring. On paper it seem like Forrest had a shot at doing some damage but it wasn't even close. This fight will start the pound per pound argument again: Silva or GSP. Silva can definatly hold his own at 205lbs. Quote
Super User skunked_again Posted August 9, 2009 Super User Posted August 9, 2009 just watched the video on line. wow. griffin never had a chance. silvas next fight should be him vs. franklin and griffen at the same time. id still be scared to bet against silva. Quote

Fish Man Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 But then Forrest did the same when he ran out of the ring. he was rushed to a hospital because he either broke or dislocated(cant remeber which) his jaw and lost his ability to hear from what ive read Quote
baboosicbass08 Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Silva vs Griffin was basically a highlight reel for Silva. Just completely dominated Griffin, I was really upset with the Hendricks and Sadollah fight, Sadollah was getting back up on his feet when Miragliotta stopped the fight. It wasn't right for the crowd to boo Hendricks it wasn't his fault but I agree with everyone else it was definately a bad call on Miragliotta to stop it that quick. And Penn and Florian, I really thought Florian could have done better than that but he just couldn't do anything to Penn, it was definately a great fight for Penn. Quote

I cant stand GSP, dont know why, i just hate him for no apparent reason........ he reminds me of Jean Claude VanDame, in fact my nickname for GSP varies between "timecop" "lionheart" or "bloodsport"....although i like "timecop" the best........ if i saw him in person, id have to slug him on general principal........................ then proceed to have the crap kicked out of me, while he broke all of my bones simultaneously!! Crabcakes Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Anybody catch WEC 42? It was another good event for them. I was happy to see Bowles win as he's been a favorite of mine. It looked like his first hook might have had a little divine guidance. B.J. had a good performance. He fought a smart fight and capitalized as soon as he saw a chance. He also looked to be much fitter for this fight. And i agree with everybody else.... that was not a good night for Forrest Griffin. Quote
Big Tom Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 If Machida can get through Shogun (which I think is pretty likely...Shogun hasn't been the same since PRIDE although he is improving somewhat) then I think there may be a good possibility of a 205 title fight between Silva and Machida. This could be a very intriguing match or a very boring match seeing as how they both are phenomenal counter fighters. A rematch with Hendo for the 185 belt is probably what is in store for Anderson. I am excited to see these two fight again as well. Also, BJ is the man. I get pumped every time he fights. Quote

Not going to happen. Silva and Machida are training partners and Silva said after the Griffin fight that he will not fight Machida. Dana White, however, said he'd make it happen. $$$ talks and the UFC has plenty to throw around. A rematch with Hendo for the 185 belt is probably what is in store for Anderson. I am excited to see these two fight again as well. If what Silva said is true, he wont fight Henderson again. Silva told the UFC heads that he is going to vacate the 185 belt and move to 205 permanently. But he will not fight for the 205 title unless Machida gets beat, like I said above, he doesnt want to fight Machida. I sure would like to see it though. Also, BJ is the man. I get pumped every time he fights. I agree. He's the Anderson Silva of the lightweight division.....he's mowed down everybody so far and they're running out of 155's. Sanchez may be the last chance before they start recycling everyone to fight BJ. Quote
