Super User Paul Roberts Posted May 1, 2009 Super User Posted May 1, 2009 I seem to have lost the cookie that keeps me logged in. I thought it would be re-issued when I log in. But, I have to log in each time now. Any suggestions? Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted May 1, 2009 BassResource.com Administrator Posted May 1, 2009 Be sure you select "For keeps" from the pulldown menu on the login page. Quote
Super User Sam Posted May 1, 2009 Super User Posted May 1, 2009 Happens to me when i clear the cookies from time to time. Do what Glenn says and all will be OK. Quote
Super User Paul Roberts Posted May 1, 2009 Author Super User Posted May 1, 2009 Thanks guys, but... it doesn't work. Even tried 24 hrs, then back to keeps. Doesn't work. Wonder what I cleared when I got rid of those cookies. I also had a trojan get in and cleared it with anti-malware software and it must have been linked somehow. Quote
tyrius. Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Did you set your browser setting to delete all cookies after each session? Quote
Super User Paul Roberts Posted May 1, 2009 Author Super User Posted May 1, 2009 tyrius, No, but will check it out. Quote
Super User Muddy Posted May 1, 2009 Super User Posted May 1, 2009 How does Paul keep getting around that block? Quote
Super User Paul Roberts Posted May 1, 2009 Author Super User Posted May 1, 2009 Nothing can keep me from talking fishin' -until your eyes are as bloody as my fingers! Well.. I've been set to accept cookies all along. Even have a list of cookies under BassResource. But, something's not right. I hate computers, I mean, when they don't do what you tell them. Am finally upgrading my main machine though. Due to be built next week. Now if I could only type as fast as it's quad-core MB can handle. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted May 1, 2009 BassResource.com Administrator Posted May 1, 2009 I'm going to guess that before the trojan, it worked fine. Afterwards, it didn't. Am I right? If so, then I'm guessing you installed some anti-malware software (AdAware, Spybot, etc.) to get rid of it. Problem is, those applications can block cookies as well. Try disabling those apps first, and then log in and see if it works. If it does, then you know to go into those programs and turn off the cookie blocking. If it doesn't, then it's something else - like your browser's security settings or anti-virus software. Sidenote: There's absolutely nothing dangerous about cookies folks. Don't block them. Doing so only ruins your online experience, as demonstrated here. Quote
Super User Paul Roberts Posted May 2, 2009 Author Super User Posted May 2, 2009 I'm going to guess that before the trojan, it worked fine. Afterwards, it didn't. Am I right? Yup. Will look into th new software -that, happily, plucked that trojan. Thanks, Glenn. Quote
