atx_newbie Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Anybody use the new iPhone 3G? I just realized that I can get one for only $4/month more on my plan than I am paying now, and I have been in need of a good smartphone, so I'm thinking about getting one. If you do have one, what do you think about it? Is it as good for business purposes as a Blackberry, or is it more for playing around with? Quote
bassdocktor Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 By far the best phone I've had or played with. I'd also say its gets the best reception of any phone I've had or better than my friends. Pretty good inside buildings too so definitely good in Chicago, so thats a plus for you. Can't comment on it for business but with all the applications and ease of use I can't see how it wouldn't be good. It's quickly becoming one of the most popular phone in the pharmacy college. I've also been seeing them with pharmacists when I go to my site visits. Hope that helps and let me know if you have any other questions. Quote
Super User South FLA Posted March 30, 2009 Super User Posted March 30, 2009 I have one and its great! You better keep the charger close though ! Quote
bassdocktor Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Good point. The battery goes quick if you start playing around with it. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted March 30, 2009 BassResource.com Administrator Posted March 30, 2009 Get a G1. It was rated as one of the best gadgets of 2008 by Time magazine, and "One of the best designed phones you can buy" by PC World. But the apps are free, and the rate plans from T-Mobile cost less with about the same 3G coverage. You could spend more on an iPhone, but why? Quote
Captain Obvious Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 My brother has the iPhone I have a blackberry. I would say that when it comes to doing business that their about equal.I will say that the IPhone is much more fun to play with. (sorry guys the grammar on the old post was BAD, not like this is much better, but even I couldn't understand the last one ) Quote

Well I'm in the middle of an AT&T contract right now, so I'm stuck with them. Also, the iPhone will play the media that I create and sell for my business, so I'm viewing it more as a marketing tool than as a phone. Thanks for the input guys. I think I'm going to go get one today, but I may wait and order a refurb online, because they're about 100 bucks cheaper. Quote
bassdocktor Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 T-Mobile might be cheaper but, in Chicago AT&T seems to get better reception. Just a thought from when I'm out with my friends. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted March 30, 2009 Super User Posted March 30, 2009 If you want reception, get Verizon. Best service, period. Quote
thetr20one Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 If you want reception, get Verizon. Best service, period. Maybe where you live but, AT&T has the ultimate reception round here 100% garanteed ask my fishin buds with Verizon who ask to use my phone bacause theirs has no reception! Quote

Another bonus is the customer service from apple. I've never personally dealt with any other company that has done as much for it's consumers. Quote

atx_newbie Posted April 1, 2009 Author Posted April 1, 2009 I haven't been particularly impressed with my at&t coverage here in chicago, but then again, my girlfriend has verizon and hers isn't any more impressive. The only thing I don't like is that she gets coverage in the subway, but I get nothing while on the underground parts of the train. Quote
