Super User Muddy Posted December 23, 2008 Super User Posted December 23, 2008 Wow what a cultural difference ! I would be honored if a close friend from the neighborhood wanted to date my sister, I don't get all of this. I guess I just grew up in a different time and place. Quote
FishingBuds Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Wow what a cultural difference ! I would be honored if a close friend from the neighborhood wanted to date my sister, I don't get all of this. I guess I just grew up in a different time and place. Its not the same anymore muddy well how long have you known her?? is she intrested in you?? I knew my best friends sister for two years as a good friend, she would cheer me up when I was bummen about things it seemed she knew how to read me. one day I went to pick up my buddy and he wasn't there, so his sister sat with me on the hood of my car and waited with me, after that day I knew I wanted to ask her out-we got along great, so I told him a week later that I would like to take her out, he didn't care much about it, kinda knew how I was, not that I slept and left but I wouldn't put up with head games so I was known to drop out of site easy. I think he was more worried if I'd get hurt ;D well that was in 1986(she was 16 and me 17 I think)and I'm proud to say were still married and have two wonderful kids together, and my freind and his lady was just over last night haven early XMAS Quote
Super User Tin Posted December 23, 2008 Super User Posted December 23, 2008 Depends.....buddy messed around with my girl, so I got his sister. We beat the heck out of one another....rest is history. So why not? : ;D Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted December 23, 2008 Super User Posted December 23, 2008 Unfortunately now it seems like people think they are "tough" if they "protect" their sisters. Don't get me wrong, if there is reason to know the guy won't be good for her then by all means protect her. But if you know he is a good guy, and thought about it enough to come to you man to man what is the problem? On the other side of it, I don't get the idea to just do it without saying something to your buddy. Friends are for a lifetime, good ones are hard to find, why mess that up? Quote
mattm Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 If any of my friends ever hinted about going out with my sister they would get a fist to the face. Also keep in mind, a breakup with her could lead to an ended friendship with him too. I don't know why you would be friends with anyone you wouldn't want dating your sister. Your basically saying some ****** of the street you know nothing about is probably better than your friends :-?. Quote

IMPY03 Posted December 23, 2008 Author Posted December 23, 2008 I really opened up a can of worms on this thread. thanks for all the replys, I would post pics but I dont think that would be very respectful so sorry guys. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 I agree with LBH. Talk to your friend. Just make sure this is a long time relation ship not a one nighter. If I had a sister I'd much rather her date a really close friend instead of someone I dont know or like. Quote
moby bass Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 My opinion, stay away from ALL women. They're only trouble. ;D Quote
Simp Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 [edit][/edit] Take it from someone that has 1/2 brothers and sisters there is no difference. Mattm also hit it perfect here. I don't understand the thinking of "well it's only his half sister". There is no difference, I have a half sister and frankly there is no such thing. She is my sister period! I have the exact same feelings for her as I do my other sister. I'd also advise you to never refer to her as his half sister for two reasons. The first is you could make her feel like she somehow doesn't mean as much to him and I assure you that's not the case. The second is your friend may perceive any comments from you about this as you think it's ok to possibly treat her bad because "she's only his half sister". While at the same time if your good friends with him there is a reason. He likes you, probably has a high opinion of you and trusts you. The last thing makes it incredibly important that you talk to his sister to make it clear you have to tell him the status of you relationship. Let him know you care for her, want to make her happy, and treat her right. This situation has to be one where you jump in head first or not at all. You can't became friends with benefits with your best friends little sister. Now having friends with benefits with three sisters on the other hand is very cool I can tell ya. ;D Quote
-HAWK- Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 ^^ Awesome advice. MattM and Simp have given some excellent advice. Quote
