Mobydick Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 As I was walking through the woods this morning in pursuit of a deer, I stumbled upon this object. It appears to be a claw...but of what origin is what I am pondering... :-/. I found it embeded between 2 large size granite rocks. I was hunting an area known for coyotes, as they have recently taken the life of a 700 pound cow, also a few deer, and many turkeys. I matched it up to the claw from a 200 pound bear of my dad's....the claw I found is longer, and not as arched. It also seems that it is built for what seems like attacking purposes. I have never seen anything like this...I am sure it is not from a bear. I believe it is retractable, because of the way it is built...bears don't have retractable claws...only members of the feline family...such as mountain lions and bobcats. The specs are 2 inches from tip of point to the back, over 3/8 of an inch from under side to upper side, and 3/16 inch thick. All I can say is.....this is no ordinary house cat. Ian Quote

Then, please let us know. Our state department told us there are no coyotes....but they're here.....they even deny the prescence of mountain lions...and we all know they are here. They said that the thing that carried off a goat was a fox....a FOX! Yea uh huh, I would like to see that. I do know our counties warden well...so I will ask him. I hope to report back soon. I have found many pictures of badger claws on the web and library, it has the characteristics of every description I found. I just don't know how it got there.....they're not supposed to be here...then again...neither are mountain lions. Ian Quote
