HOIST-N-HAWGS Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 OK, now that the NYG got knocked off last night, who's the best? Carolina? Tennessee? Steelers? Miami ;D Or is it stll the Pats :-/? Carolina seems to be quietly sneaking in here and wish I could get more coverage of their games. Who's going to the Super Bowl? Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted December 15, 2008 Super User Posted December 15, 2008 N.Y. Giants are still the best. Quote
deadeye32. Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 Being from Indianapolis, I love the colts, but until they stop playing to their opponents level week in and week out, I just dont see them as the best. That being said, Pittsburg is pretty dang good even though they are not that flashy. They also have the toughest schedule in the history of football. Quote
simplejoe Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 Steelers........... ;D They made me nervous last night against the Baltimore Ravens. Quote
Daniel A. Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 Being a Steelers fan, I must say the Steelers are the best team in the AFC. The defense is tops in the league, and they're winning tough, close games at home and on the road. In the NFC, the Giants are still the team to beat. Carolina, though, is getting it done under the radar. I'd like to see a rematch from earlier this season in the Super Bowl: Steelers vs. Giants. Quote
Super User Tin Posted December 15, 2008 Super User Posted December 15, 2008 Next Sunday night will answer this question. The drama around the Giants seem to be taking it's toll and Eli looks awful, while Carolina's offense is something else. That's going to be a great game. Quote
BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted December 15, 2008 BassResource.com Advertiser Posted December 15, 2008 As much as I hate to say it the Panthers are probably the best. Quote
Daniel My Brother Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 I'll go with the Titans in the AFC I think the NFC is a crapshoot, but I'll take the Giants if forced to choose. Titans over Giants in the Superbowl, 21-20. Quote
HOIST-N-HAWGS Posted December 16, 2008 Author Posted December 16, 2008 I'd like to think the Pat's will be there towards the end, but if we run into the Panthers I don't think we'll be able to stop their front line. Yet, w/my imagination running wild, this scenario comes to mind: Casal goes down in the 1st quarter and Brady makes a maraculous recovery and enters the game to win it w/a 35 yard bomb to Moss ;D Quote

bmadd Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 I am a diehard Titans fan but I really don't think they have what it takes anymore. They are an underdog team. As soon as people started to give them the credit they deserved earlier in the year they started doing exactly what the people who doubted them did. When everyone was praising Kerry Collins I spoke of how poor his accuracy was and it's really starting to show now that everyone is stacking 8 or 9 in the box against them. They are going to have to get Haynesworth and Van den Bosch back in time for the playoffs or they'll be out. The offensive line and Kerry Collins are going to have to play better as well. My vote for the AFC as of now is either the Steelers or the Ravens vs. the Panthers or maybe even Philly! They're playing good ball right now and have a chip on their shoulder. It's getting very interesting now. Quote
atx_newbie Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 Why hasn't anyone mentioned the Cowboys yet? True, they had a rough start to the season, but they are playing some really physical ball right now. That front 7 on the defense is as good right now as any other team in the country. And now, they have a legitimate speed back in Tashard Choice to pair up with the power of Barber. And Flozell Adams only got called for one false start last game! They have a long way to go against some tough teams, but they are playing playoff style football now. If they get in, look for them to make a deep run into the playoffs. Quote

If the Boys "win out" against the Ravens and Eagles, they could be favored to go all the way, but I suspect they will drop both games. 8-) Quote
bmadd Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 17 unanswered points in the 4th against the Steelers? Romo's horrible play at the end of the season? Games against Baltimore and Philly? They are looking better but they've still got a lot to prove. Quote
Super User Tin Posted December 16, 2008 Super User Posted December 16, 2008 If Romo can just be an average NFL QB and not be the usual Romo of December the defense will carry Dallas a long way. Quote
atx_newbie Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 If Romo can just be an average NFL QB and not be the usual Romo of December the defense will carry Dallas a long way. Exactly. Defense wins championships, the offense just sells the tickets. Quote
bmadd Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 The defense only mindset is pretty accurate but Romo is the difference maker. Now if you have a high powered scoring Defense it's a different story. That's why the Steelers or the Ravens either one could go all the way. Their defenses are amazing and they both have good offenses. I just don't think the Cowboys have it. Quote
Super User 5bass Posted December 16, 2008 Super User Posted December 16, 2008 Tony Turnover will be the Cowgirls demise IF they should get lucky enough to make the Playoffs. AFC - Hurts to say it but it's gotta be the Steelers NFC - Carolina. Williams and Stewart are straight up running over defenses. Want to stack the line to stop the run? Go ahead, Steve Smith knows where the end zone is. Quote
TheBeast Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 Washington Redskins I don't care what records are or anything else the Skins are the greatest end of discusion. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted December 16, 2008 Super User Posted December 16, 2008 Washington Redskins I don't care what records are or anything else the Skins are the greatest end of discusion. Yea, well...My beloved Broncos will make the playoffs, but even I admit, my boys are pitiful. Even an occasional spark of offensive brillance cannot make up for the other half of the equation: Now known as the enver Broncos. Quote
justfishin Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 My Steelers are looking good. I hope they can keep it up. GO STEELERS. Quote

HOIST-N-HAWGS Posted December 17, 2008 Author Posted December 17, 2008 Nobody mentioned the Colts?Interesting! Another fact I didn't know and quite surprised by, is that Houston is 3rd in total points scored :-? The top five in Defense are Pitt, Balt, Philly, Tenn & Wahsington :-?? This is going to be very interesting over the next few weeks. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted December 17, 2008 Super User Posted December 17, 2008 Isn't it obvious? Quote
