I still do not like the wild card. After 162 games the 4 divison leaders should go, it is not a short season, why play that hard all year. OH THATS RIGHT TV MONEY, is more important than tradition. This even hold for my Mets, if you have to get in with the Wild Card, you shouldn't be there in the first place;

I remember no post season; just the teams with the 2 best f reocrds in either league got in PERIOD THE END 160 games, and the best record used to mean something a whole lot more.

On the plus side of the system we have we have 2 cities with the possiblity of an in sate World Series.

They need better access and better announcers during the post season

I am glad they are having some earlier games this season so the kids can watch the whole thing on school nights

If my Father was still alive, Met's or no Met's he would be rooting for his beloved Dodgers, even though they desserted Brooklyn and we could never say the name O Malley in our house again ::)

Yes but still better than NBC and Bob Costas. And I must say, 162 games is about 80 too many.

Hey Tin Thats part of the beauty of baseball THE LONG SUMMER SEASON. Building a team to be competative in your home park while being competative in other parks.

I don't know how old you are but there was a time of twi light and Sunday double headers. There was a great player for the cubs, Ernie Banks who used to say" It's a beautiful day, let's play 2!

  Costas, is touted as a great play by play guy, but I am with you, I would rather keep the sound off!

The 162 game schedule is what makes baseball so unique. It definately seperates the pretenders from the contenders.

I personelly think the wild-card is good for the game , it gives two extra teams hope and keeps people interested longer. Let's keep it real though and not add anymore teams to the play-offs as it would water it down too much like basketball.

My dad says the same thing about the Wild Card. He is currently a Met fan but was a big time Dodger fan.

Hey Bass Brat it is incredible how many baseball fans are split on this issue of the wild card. Most things that change in baseball, cause a lot of dialouge but this one thing, the Wild Card was a 50-50 deal among long time fans

For me the worst move baseball made came in 2 steps to increase the offense

They Lowered the Mound : This was a direct response to guys like Kofax, Gibson,Ford . It gave the hitters too much of an advantage.

They messed with the strike zone; It has almost become illegal to pitch inside and back a guy up. I have seen warnings for merely pitching inside , not even wacking some one

I concur with you 100% , these two changes affected the game way too much for me.

 I don't think it has made a difference so far but that Sox wild card playoff deal was a joke. You are penalizing a team for winning the division. They should have just had a tie breaker plan in place. Head to head or runs scored against or something. Making them go 2 days after everyone else isn't right. Heck it doesn't matter who it was but in theory it could have been a team that had the best rcord in baseball.
