Little Luey Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 This weekend I took the family to Vegas, to visit family out there, kind of like a family reunion since some of us came from different places in the country. My one thing I wanted to do was to visit BPS, I have never been to one. I have visited Cabella's in the Phoenix area but have not made it to BPS. I walked around with the kids and saw the fish in the fish tanks and the played on the arcades, then it was time for me to shop, I had a list of things I wanted to bring back and wanted to do my best to stay within that list so I don't ended up spending all my fun money in there. Made it out of there only spending $75 including taxes. I had a rod in my hand when the wife asked me where I was putting that since it would not fit in the car, so I put it back, but went back and for a few times in the isles. My wife said my eyes got big and they were sparkling when we first got there, LOL. I was disappointed to find out they did not have the Fat Ika, :'(, I could not find them and finally asked one of the managers there and he said he never heard of them, helped me look but could not find them either. Good reason to go to Cabella's next month. All in all, it was fun. Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted May 28, 2008 Super User Posted May 28, 2008 I go a lot of times and never spend a dime. Just enjoy walking and looking at the new items. They do try to make it a fun time while you are being seperated from your hard earned money. Glad you enjoyed it. Quote
Little Luey Posted May 28, 2008 Author Posted May 28, 2008 You are right about that, they do make it fun. My kids enjoyed themselves also. We went to Lake Mead also and that lake is so different from what I am used to fishing, I did not see any weeds surfacing and seem like it is very deep water, I don't think I would know how to fish there. I usually fish no deeper than 20' of water and most of the time I am trowing my lure at something, weeds, pile of rocks or something I can see on the surface. What technics are good in that lake? they do have a ton of carp, you see a lot of people feeding them pop corn. Saw some stripers feeding also. Quote
Teria Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 I have only one question. How did you get out of BPS only spending 75.00? That is amazing! Quote
Super User Raul Posted May 28, 2008 Super User Posted May 28, 2008 I was disappointed to find out they did not have the Fat Ika, :'(, I could not find them and finally asked one of the managers there and he said he never heard of them, helped me look but could not find them either. Good reason to go to Cabella's next month. Manager ain 't a bass fishing aficionado :, Fat Ika = Kinami Palm Tree. BPS doesn 't carry Fat Ikas but it does carry Kinami Palm Trees. Quote

I could not buy the fishing rod I wanted because it would not fit in my car's trunk and was a 1 piece rod, and could not put in inside the car, with a 5 hr drive something was bound to happen. I think I have pretty good self control, ;D Quote

BPS doesn 't carry Fat Ikas but it does carry Kinami Palm Trees. you are probably right about that! I remember reading about the other similar bait but I could not remember the name, I was sure they would have it in stock, that is ok, next month we are going to Scottsdale and there is a BPS and Cabella's in the area. Payback time, ;D Quote
Still a Bigbuckifan Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 If there's not a BPS in heaven i'll be disapointed ;D. I love that place only $75 wow what did you get 5 bags of plastics and 2 crankbaits. Quote
coachkiss Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 BTW, the Cabela's in Fort Worth Texas didn't have Fat Ika's either. I asked the manager and they only had them in the Saltwater Series. Are they the same thing, just different packaging? Quote
rondef Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 You got out of BPS and only spent $75, I guess the bait monkey must have been on break. I have yet to leave that store for under $300 each and every time I go there. As a result the wife has limited me to 2 to 3 trips a year. Quote

I got a few drop-shooting plastics and weights, some crankbaits also; mainly the stuff I cannot get here in town. Being in Vegas made it easier to not go over board, I wanted to do other things around town also. Quote
Staff Sergeant--USMC Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 There's a BPS in my area where I recruit out of, plus it's only 30 min from my house. We also have a Gander MNT only 10 min from my house. Gander MNT doesn't even come close to BPS----that's my humble opinion though. I lve that store (BPS) and have gotten allot of good deals there! Quote
Little Luey Posted May 28, 2008 Author Posted May 28, 2008 It was like heaven on earth for me : : I know what you mean. My wife asked me what would happen if I actually work there, I told her I would be putting some mad overtime, I just like that place so much, and probably would need to work a ton of hours to cover for all the stuff I would buy. :'( Quote
stank-bait Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 yeah i feel the same .if i worked there i would never get a paycheck, just the stub.... lol.dont get me started on my new 175tx bass tracker that has my name on it down there at bps. Quote
redskinsfan360 Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Goin to BPS for the second time tis summer. Cannot wait! I am saving all of my money for the trip! Quote
