Okay Glenn's been having it easy recently. So time to offer him some unsolicited advice for the BR forum, since he's keeping the enhancements top secret.

1. The green text is too small and appears blurry to some of us old guys, even with reading glasses, and the black font also looks to be too small. It would be nice to see a button on the page to increase font size, or even better yet a font increase function for the entire forum while you are visiting. (changing the computer's display setting size won't do).

2. Too much to go through to try and catch up at times. How about a button where you can see all posts in a category or topic, since your last visit and limit it to say 50 posts. (I know you have the 10 most recent posts click-through and can change the 10 to a max of 50 in the URL and hit go after 10 seconds but it doesn't do it for me.)

seems like the general forum always has a bunch of "new guy here!" posts on the first page, how about putting them all in one place and having a specific section for newbies to introduce themselves?

Good one! I've thought about that too.

What about some sort of feedback system for people that buy and sell on the flea market?

I think this would be a great idea.  I know of at least one forum I go to that has this, and it is great.  You can see how many transactions and whether people liked the way he did business or not.

for text being too small, try enlarging the text from your browser

if using firefox, hold Ctrl and the + key

if using Explorer, go under ur View menu -> Text Size -> and select a bigger one

hope it helps the old guys  ;)

also, the forum comes from probably a PhpBB template with relatively little room for customization in terms of buttons and their specific tasks, so they may / may not be able to have those features. i am not 100% sure, just my 2cents.

In internet explorer hold control and press the + key. Font will increase. To decrease hold control and press - key.

Tried it (both Ctrl's and both +'s) and doesn't work... still old, blind and I guess owner of a dysfunctional PC.

Hey Zel make sure you also make your window full screen that might help.

Time for a bigger monitor? ;)

You wink but that's exactly what I'm gonna do LOL.  The Ctrl + thingy works to increase font size on the PC at home, but not the office one.  It's probably all the AS400 commands loaded at startup that causes the problem.

I just tried the "Ctrl" + on the work computer. Works great! However, it throws everything out of proportion.

The bigger monitor was not really a joke... I still have 20/20 vision but I sure like the larger monitor.

This site does just fine with or without me. I haved learned that this site is more important to me than I imagined and I will make sure I conduct myself in a manner to keep me here.

Hey Zel

One more shot,

When I told a co-worker about the ctrl + he said the same function is available at the bottom of the IE window. As long as you have the status bar at the bottomof th eIE window ( add via tools / toolbars) on my setup it has a magnafying glass and a % sign with a drop down box

You can just select a different size % and do the same as ctrl +  ????

Let us know if it works

F-F-I

I don't have that Magnifying Glass thingy, but I do have a SIZE dropdown button on my IE toolbar. It is set to Medium. When I change it to Larger or Largest nothing happens. I don't see where I can even add or get that Magnifying Glass on the IE statis bar on the bottom, even with customization. Thanks for your help though.

God no! That so old. I'm all the way up to Windows 98 these days. ::)  I know... pretty bad for someone who job functions also includes maintaining all the different computer systems in the company, from DOS to Windows 95, 98, Mil, 2000, XP, Vista; to an AS400.

I am not sure if possible but when looking under the "members" tab at top it sure would be nice to sort by location so that one can see what members maybe neighbors.

Just a suggestion

Zel, a much easier way than all that ctrl + other buttons crap...

i use internet explorer 7, so im not sure if this will work with other versions.

just above where it shows the clock in the bottom right corner of the screen, there is a magnifying glass with a plus in it, then a percent (100% by default) and then an arrow next to the percent.

click the arrow for a pop-up menu. then select a percent higher than 100. this will enlarge the text on the website.
