I agree with Fish Chris.

If hanging coyotes really works, it will work just as well 100 yards inside the fence and out of sight! That goes for deer on the hood of your truck, too.

The vast majority of "non-hunters" just don't care about YOU hunting. So, being neutral really puts them on our side. There is absolutely no reason to insult or prejudice our "friends", let alone provide ammunition to the enemy!

I hate the "in-your-face" attitude that does nothing for our cause.

>:(

Right-on, Kent.

Think of a little old lady who normally has no opinion on the subject of hunting/guns, outdoor ethics, animal rights, etc. If she happens to be driving down the highway, stops at a stop sign and see's your bloody dead deer head with its tongue hanging out off your tailgate or the dead coyote carcasses on the fence post, then she can be turned against hunting. If she sees enough, then she goes home and starts a letter-writing campaign to the local senator. Before long, the senator sees a need to ban/tighten laws on hunting. It could happen!

We as hunters/outdoors enthusiasts must make every effort to set a postive and ethical image to the general public. Always remember that hunting and fishing are PRIVILEGES, not rights.

X2 on both opinions !!!!.

Unfortunately for most of the city people the only place they can see a wild animal is in a zoo or in the TV ( Animal Planet or Discovery n 'such ), all they see is the cute little coyote or fox or when they see a deer they see "Bambi". Antropomorhization occurs a lot more on people who are not used to live in contact with animals. So why screw it up with attitudes like:

Finally getting a chance at one of those PETA sissys makes me want to go kill a coyote and string it up from my mailbox.  Just how I feel about it.

It has little to do with PETA ( which by the way can kiss my skinny rear end ad inifinitum ) it has to do with all the rest of the people who are not animal rights activists but that could turn into animal rights activists with that in your face attitude.

You are the evil hunter that killed Bambi 's mom ya know

We used to string 'em up. It showed the neighbors that coyotes were around and dispatched.

Besides, there was a bounty to be had if you brought the ears to the county courthouse.

$8 a pair.

If you're worried about what peta thinks, then they've already won the war.

Burley is right.  We can't worry about what PETA thinks.  There is nothing we can do to make those people happy.  To them there is no difference between dead coyotes on a fence and any one of us fishing.  If the hanging of those coyotes keeps others from killing his livestock or making it any harder for the farmer to make a living then more power to him.

my mistake RW and Raul, I deleted my post.  I was out of line.

I agree with the fact that if the decay works, then it will work inside a fence or a bush just as well.  If the carcasses serve as a warning to neighbors, then try hanging just the hides or be really unconventional and use the telephone.  But I really wouldn't want my kids seeing that and getting a bad taste in their mouth for outdoor activities.

Now with that said, I'm not a hunter.  I've gone a few times, but I can't stand it.  I've never killed anything that wasn't described to me as an enemy of the United States with the exception of my first deer and turkey.  Felt guilty for killing both of those, which is kind of funny.  I'm an infantryman.

THe way to fight PETA (sadly enough) is not physically.  I'm pretty sure that if all 15,000 of us ganged up on PETA, we'd probably wreck shop physically...but that's not going to help our case.  RW and FC are right...it helps theirs.  But if all 15,000 of us were to petetion or cast votes, then that shows a much stronger front legally.

Sorry about my first comment.  I should have kept it to myself, especially since I would have never done that in the first place.  Besides, I live in a subdivision right outside of a military post.  If I did what I had said, they would string me up inside the mental institution ;D
