If there is a will, there is a way.  And i know when my wife wants something really bad; bad enough to 'negotiate', then she'll win everytime.     ;D

(and i like the one that you like better anyways)

b           :-X   (but I didn't say any of this)

Even though you didn't say any of this, it was good to hear you say it.  ;D Us wives can be pretty good at negotiations sometimes, can't we?  ;D ;D

Until I get my CCW permit I only carry my knives. Arkansas has liberalized the law on the carry of a knife and from my martial art and military training I do know how to use them. At close range a man trained to use a knife can be faster and deadlier than a man going for a gun. Even when I get my CCW permit I will still carry at least one of my knives. There are times a knife is just a better choice because it is quite and does not give away your location.

In use to lug a gun all the time, but I was working at a gun store.I harldly ever carry now,cuz the kind of work I do.I install floorcovering,it dont work out with a gun on,also the customers get a little uneasy ;D

But when I do,in the warm weather,I have'ta go with the Colt Dec. Special.or the S&W mod.36. Colder weather,I'd go with the Colt MKIV 1911 or the Colt MKV Trooper.

Exercise your rights as law abiding citizens of these United States of America.Do not let THEM take away your rights...

I've looked at at few Glocks and Sigs, never fired one.I'm kinda old skool when it comes to handguns,I guess.I like revolvers Blued, particularly Colts, they did a nice blue.actually I prefer all guns blue(dont know why)I just like the older stuff. The bluing doesn't look as good on newer guns to me.

I spose I should get with the times an try out some of them new fangled guns... ::)

I like the looks of a blued gun.  I like it even more once it has a little holster wear on the edges.  Gives it character.

Expect for some of the details, there's not a whole lot different about today's guns from yesteryear's.  Most autos today are based on John Browning's tilting barrel design.   My new Glock owes as much to John Browning's turn-of-the-century patents as it does to Mr. Glock himself.

I still don't recommend taking a knife to a gunfight. And when a gun is properly used, the other person won't hear a thing. (now or ever)

FBI statistics show the average gunfight occurs at night at a distance of six feet. While, I generally agree with your comment; there is a reason why tactics at least used to teach not to let anyone armed with a knife get within 21 feet of you. Guns are great and often are the only tool. I hope you do know that a trained individual will not ever reveal the blade to you and your first indication that he is armed with a knife is after you have been cut and possibly multiple times. Don't be over confident just because you carry a gun. Since I once, as a part-time side job, sold body armor to the police down in the Houston, Texas area I became knowledgeable about what will and will not easily penetrate different body armor from Richard Davis the founder of Second Chance Body Armor. Even wearing the best body armor made does not make you Superman against someone who has been trained and knows how to deal with it. All things have strengths and weaknesses as they are all only tools. The best tool in you arsenal to keep you alive rests between your ears so the best thing you can do is train that and not look for the latest gadget. Under stress you will always go back to your instinctive training so make sure you are ready when the worst thing happens when you least expect it.

As to guns I used to carry for years  a "cocked & locked" custom .45 Colt and then went to a Glock 21 .45 Auto as I like the .45 Auto Cartridge. Back during my "Drug Suppression stint for the US Army in the early 70s when we knew we would not be dealing with military personnel we liked the Super Vel 190gr. HPs after we had our service .45s tuned to operate with them. Today I'm more traditional as I like the Hydra-Shock 230gr. HP and I can practice with the average 230gr ball.

Now that I am in Arknasas, I plan on getting a Springfield Armory XD Custom with a few of my own ideas added. Sorry, I don't talk about how I would carry it or my knives.

I carry my Gov't. model .45 in my vehicle where ever I go.  Going into downtown Atlanta on occasion, its a real comfort knowing it is there.

For carrying on my person, it is a Colt Detective Special.

I have never been interested in guns. I always wondered what is within your legal rights as a carrier. If someone attacks you and you shoot them can't this be considered illegal? The only way I would ever shoot someone is if my life was endangered, but that point where it could actually be endangered it could be too late. What is it that you CAN do and WHEN you can do it? I do a lot of fishing from 12AM-5AM and sometimes it gets tricky. Many times I run into people strung out on drugs or drunk. Where I go there has been fishermen robbed at gunpoint. I carry a knife and I am very attentive to noises and I move quietly. I have no training with a knife.

Do you carry concealed?

Nope and wouldn 't even dare to do it even if I had the chance, in Mexico it 's illegal for you to carry any kind of handguns, you can if you have a permit, but you can die of old age before your permit to carry a handgun is approved. Only off duty military personel and policemen are allowed to carry handguns.

A permit to carry does NOT give you ANY law enforcement powers. Deadly force is authorized in MOST states ONLY in cases where the loss of life or bodily harm is an imminent threat. Generally, this does NOT include protecting property, but that varies from state to state.

Most importantly, a gun should NEVER be drawn unless you intend to use it. In the event the gun is fired, the shot should always be intended to kill. If one shot is fired, I would suggest following that with two more.

Super Soaker 1000 for me.

Luckily I live in a place that has no need for it. So far anyway. I actually have never seen anyone carrying a gun around except for officers of the law.

That's why it's called "concealed carry."   :P  You undoubtedly have seen lots of people carrying, you just didn't see their gun.  Detectives, criminals, permitted citizens, etc.  You'd be surprised at how many people are carrying.

I live in New Hampshire, you have the right in this state to carry open, without a permit. To carry concealed you need a permit in NH.Your permit requires that you fill out an app at your local PD. they run a criminal background check on you ,and they have to inform you within 2weeks if you are denied, with a reason, and you have the right to appeal to the state.(so if you dont happen to get along with the chief,he just cant deny you cuz of personal reasons.)In NH you do not have to have a handgun license to buy a handgun, you do however have to pass the state background check, that now just consist of a call to the Dept.Of Public Safety, who will usally call back within ten minutes or so.

I'm a gun guy,My brother and I were brought up that way from our Dad.We learned safe firearm handling at a young age, guns were never scary to us.The people that have never been around shooting sports or hunting are the ones who are afraid, and only see firearms as a weapon.Granted firearms are a weapon of DEADLY force, particularly in the hands of a criminal or somebody that has no idea of what thy can do and how to use them.So as much of a pro gun guy that I am,I'm definatly in favor of background checks. And frankly I wouldn't mind seeing people that want a Conceal Carry license to have to pass a Handgun saftey course. That being said I also think that in this age of high speed info that if a LAW ABIDING CITIZEN who has been granted a conceal carry permit, they're permit should be valid in all states in the US,One shouldnt have to read up on the laws in each state regaurding they're right to carry, they're life is worth no less no matter were they are...

fyi- Many (most?) states require classes and proficiency testing/range qualification to be eligible to even apply for a permit.  Beyond that, it's FBI/NICS background checks as well as other stuff.  It's not like a guy can go buy a gun today and get a permit tomorrow... at least not around here.

I don't think any judge in his right mind would grant me a permit to even own a gun.  ;D

Anybody hear the 911 tape of the old man who's neighbor was being robbed? (in Ft. Worth)

He shot and killed both of them. I was torn, as he wasn't in any direct danger, but like he said in the tape, "they ain't gettin' away! I can't let 'em." He blasted one right outside, and the other made a run for it, and got the same.

I heard that on the news when it happened.  I'd hate to be him.  I know those were bad-guys.  But he wasn't in danger, and he went looking for trouble and killed two men who otherwise posed no threat to him.
