Red Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 threw one out today when nothing else was working, caught two super dinks. anyone wanna give me the when where how and why of this worm? thanks Cliff Quote
Big-O Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 Cliff, you were obviously in small fish water. When you know that you are in big fish territory and nothing is working, the trick worm will do them in as easy as it does the small ones. The ticket is to be in big fish water. Big O www.ragetail.com Quote

Fish it exactly like that.Ike 8-) never seen him fish any bait actually, do explain Cliff He likes to throw it out and reel it back as fast as he can uses a faster retrive. He calls it "Power Fishing", trying to cover as much water as possible. He uses a 7.1:1 "burner" reel. I talked to a guide on Toledo Bend and Sam Rayburn and he says that he tears up the bass with that. I've got a few like that too. it can be pretty productive. He said he got the idea from watching a pro (I can't remeber witch one) in the Elite 50 series. He tapped it and watched it over and over and found out pretty much what the guy was using. Super User Raul Posted May 18, 2008 Super User Posted May 18, 2008 Carolina rig Texas rig Shakey head Spinnerbait trailer Weightless wacky rig Like a soft plastic jerkbait Hook it up however you want to really. Trick worms work in so, so many ways. Weighted hook T-rig D-shot Quote

Big-O Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 BTW Ike, KVD's normal retrieve is much faster than any I have ever seen and you are right with the Power Fishing comment because he is the perfect picture of that. Big O Quote
bassdocktor Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 My best luck comes from a Texas rig. It's usually rare I don't have one rigged up. I'll work it anywhere I would a normal worm. But it's also probably the bait I have the most confidence in. I've also had some success just swimming it back occasionally lifting my rod tip. Hey try doing a search because there are alot of old good posts on the trick worm. Quote
guitarkid Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 Weedless and weightless. Just lift and drop it, like a senko When I lift it though I like to give it an extra little lift. If the fish do not hit a trick worm a finesse worm or a senko, it is pointless. -searoach Quote

Ike 8-) Kevin has a quick retrieve with many baits, but can't say that he is reeling any bait as fast as he can unless he missed a strike and needs to get his bait back in strike zone, and he is most always using a start and stop or light rip during retrieve to add erratic action to his baits.
