SPAZ Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 Are there any articles on how to fish them? I'm assuming you can shake them while the lure is in one place but are there any other ways to successfully fish these? Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted April 11, 2008 Super User Posted April 11, 2008 deadstick and drag are the most productive methods imho. Quote
Super User Raul Posted April 11, 2008 Super User Posted April 11, 2008 A shakey head jig is really a new name for an old concept. Ain 't that the truth ! ;D Just like D-shot ( hook above sinker ). Quote

Avalonjohn44 Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 If you sight fish, and don't care about catching a nesting fish, then the shaky head is the way to go. Quote
Super User RoLo Posted April 11, 2008 Super User Posted April 11, 2008 A shakey head jig is really a new name for an old concept. Agreed The key purpose of the shaky worm is for finessing negative bass (winter season, spawning season, post frontal, etc). In that context, I usually impart one or two short, sharp twitches to kick-start the worm tail, then let the worm rest in place about 5 seconds (a "true" 5 seconds is deceptively looong). Jiggling a worm in place offers very poor coverage, so I'll intersperse the twitching with slow dragging to change the lure's scenery. Oddly, we don't get many strikes during the drag phase, and practically no strikes at all during the fall. With the shaky worm, most of our pickups occur during the pause, usually right after a twitch. Roger Quote
