I started using a bait again last year that has sat in my tackle box for about 20 years since I bought it in the late 80s... The Rebel Wee Frog.  I have both the small and the larger version, but they always just sat there... I was looking at it, and by God it looks and swims very similar to the Megabass Type X.  No sharp glossy Japanese finish, but the frog looked too good to just let it sit there.  I began taking it and fishing it side by side with the Type X frog, which is among my favorite lures... That $4 beat up, rust stained Wee Frog outfished the megabass like crazy.  Pond bass shred this frog.  River smallies liked to smash it too.  I have since stocked up by watching ebay, the large size frog is not so easy to come by... The smaller version works too, but catches too many sunfish.  I've reoutfitted by baits with some new trebles, and plan to work the heck out of them this summer.  I wanted to give everyone that can't justify the $$$ on a megabass a chance to use a very similar lure at a quarter of the cost...

Just thought this might be an easier alternative to keeping your eye open on Ebay.

Link doesn't work, so both sizes are availabe at another site. Com

Hope this helps.

I just use the good old bullfrog pattern.  There is a brown one with darker brown dots that is really good too.

Steve F, where did you find them?

I still have those 8 Frogs I purchased back in the early 90 's, pretty darn good bait. Not as pretty as the Type X from Megabass but still a fish catcher, I used to slain trout with it.

Local fishing store has the Wee Frogs in the larger size & smaller size.  I bought 1 of each, the bottom is white & the top is like a light brown/tan w/ spots.  But the store did carry quite a few colors.

After reading your post, I remembered this store sold them for $3.99 ea.  Thought I'd give them a shot since price isn't all that much.
