Nashua Nev Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 I got out to turtle pond about 4 - 5:15 , not a single bite today Quote
Super User Shane J Posted November 18, 2010 Super User Posted November 18, 2010 If you were just shore fishing, that's understandable for Turtle. To get them in there right now, you need to slowly (and I mean painfully slow) drag a carolina rig with a worm or something across the deeper parts. They hang in there in the sections that are 11-13', and will still grab a C-rig. Go straight out from the launch, and kind of hook to the right (like to the 2 o clock position), and you will find them when you hit 12 fow. That's how you get the bigger ones in there to bite when it's this cold. Tough to do in the wind, though. At least I'm not the only one still fishing. I get some funny looks this time of year. Quote
Nashua Nev Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 thank you , if the weather is decent enough i may bring the canoe out . just purchased a used depth meter thing too, will give it a try, for 25$ it seemed like it was worth it . The shore at turtle has treated me well this season . but not for the last month with all the weeds gone. Quote

Great advice as always Shane. At Turee on tues. slowly dragging/shaking a C-rigged Devil's Tongue(it floats) by Creme Lures in the deep water. Two strikes. Missed the first but got a hook into the second. Last LMB of the season. Happy Holidays everybody. See you in the spring.By the way nice fish Shane! Quote
Super User Shane J Posted November 25, 2010 Super User Posted November 25, 2010 Yeah, Eloo! That's what I'm talkin about! Nice job. I want one more nice one for the year, too. I'm gonna go Saturday and try to make it happen. Quote
Nashua Nev Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 i just flipped the jon boat upside down on the trailer, and put it where its gonna stay till spring. 4 hp gas motor is drained and in the basement and the gas has been poured in the pick up. snowblower is ready but canoe is ready for one warm wed or sunday. with some luck Quote
Super User Shane J Posted November 29, 2010 Super User Posted November 29, 2010 Name that spot. Anybody? Ended up with all small fish (10"-12"), none picture worthy. I'm not done quite yet! Quote
unhbass37 Posted November 29, 2010 Author Posted November 29, 2010 Wow Shane and I thought I was a diehard. I did the winter coat thing last year and it just didn't work for me. I caught fish, but they were very few and far between. Good luck kid, I'm sure there is a pig out there for you. Quote
Nashua Nev Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 1 red canoe out in mill pond yesterday not sure who or how long but it was there for atleast an hour Quote
unhbass37 Posted November 30, 2010 Author Posted November 30, 2010 I saw you out there. I was at conway with my son for practice. Did you catch any? Quote
jaystraw Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 Nice job Shane!!! good for you!! I just moved out too Peterborough, and we have a little one on the way so I have been off the water. Looking forward to next spring! Quote
llPa1nll Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Hey guys, just winterized my boat this past weekend. Its going to be a long winter. I wish I got out more this year than I did. Quote
Super User Shane J Posted December 7, 2010 Super User Posted December 7, 2010 Me too! I fished a lot, but now regret those couple of times that I might have been able to go with a little more effort. Then again, I feel that way every winter. Quote
FishingOnTheEdge Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Hey guys long time no talk. Hows everyone doing? Anyone pumped for ice fishing yet? I know i am since its colder now and "real" fishing has ended for me. Quote
Super User Shane J Posted December 8, 2010 Super User Posted December 8, 2010 Well, I'm gonna ice fish a couple times for sure, but I think I'm going to spend more time up the Merrimack trying for smallies. I only did that a couple times last winter, but I got on quite a few, and that to me is better. It's just a little shady in my jon boat if there's any wind! Quote
unhbass37 Posted December 8, 2010 Author Posted December 8, 2010 Shane let me know if you decide to go some Friday. I may join you. Quote
Super User Shane J Posted December 8, 2010 Super User Posted December 8, 2010 You got it, buddy! Quote
Super User Shane J Posted December 19, 2010 Super User Posted December 19, 2010 Cabin fever buster yesterday. Got 4 altogether, but this was the biggest. Quote
nhbassin Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 I know your "name that spot" Shane. Its only a mile or so from my house. I plan on trying it this winter a few times. Ive been told to use live shinners there in the winter. Do you still go with artificials over the winter time when fishing that spot? Quote
Super User Shane J Posted December 19, 2010 Super User Posted December 19, 2010 Yeah, I use lures, mostly plastics and jigs, but I have a buddy who comes with me there once in a while, and he swears by the shiners, too. He definitely does catch them pretty good on them, but I have outfished him with his live bait. Not easy, but possible. I shoulda gone today. That one in the picture, came on a Tx rigged Falcon Rage Craw, with a 1/4oz pegged tungsten weight. Quote
Waylo Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Wow. What determination to get out there Shane. I've got cabin fever bad right now but everytime I think about going to the river, I step out, that cold air hits my face, and I turn right back around! Quote
Super User Shane J Posted December 21, 2010 Super User Posted December 21, 2010 I hear ya, man! I just wear a beanie cap, three layers, and bring a thermos of hot coffee. I just can't stand not being able to catch a bass for any real period of time. Kills me. I can't imagine living somewhere with a closed bass season. Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted December 22, 2010 Super User Posted December 22, 2010 Shane, where do you go now? What river? Quote
Super User Shane J Posted December 23, 2010 Super User Posted December 23, 2010 The Merrimack, but it's tough if it's windy in a little jon boat! Quote
