I got out to turtle pond about 4 - 5:15 , not a single bite today

If you were just shore fishing, that's understandable for Turtle. To get them in there right now, you need to slowly (and I mean painfully slow) drag a carolina rig with a worm or something across the deeper parts. They hang in there in the sections that are 11-13', and will still grab a C-rig. Go straight out from the launch, and kind of hook to the right (like to the 2 o clock position), and you will find them when you hit 12 fow. That's how you get the bigger ones in there to bite when it's this cold. Tough to do in the wind, though. At least I'm not the only one still fishing. I get some funny looks this time of year.

thank you ,  if the weather is decent enough i may bring the canoe out .  just purchased a used depth meter thing too,  will give it a try,

for 25$ it seemed like it was worth it .

The shore at turtle has treated me well this season . but not for the last month with all the weeds gone.

Great advice as always Shane. At Turee on tues. slowly dragging/shaking a C-rigged Devil's Tongue(it floats) by Creme Lures in the deep water. Two strikes. Missed the first but got a hook into the second. Last LMB of the season. Happy Holidays everybody. See you in the spring.By the way nice fish Shane!

Yeah, Eloo! That's what I'm talkin about! Nice job. I want one more nice one for the year, too. I'm gonna go Saturday and try to make it happen.

Name that spot. Anybody? Ended up with all small fish (10"-12"), none picture worthy. I'm not done quite yet!

Wow Shane and I thought I was a diehard. I did the winter coat thing last year and it just didn't work for me. I caught fish, but they were very few and far between. Good luck kid, I'm sure there is a pig out there for you.  :P

Hey guys, just winterized my boat this past weekend. Its going to be a long winter. I wish I got out more this year than I did.

Me too! I fished a lot, but now regret those couple of times that I might have been able to go with a little more effort. Then again, I feel that way every winter.

Hey guys long time no talk. Hows everyone doing? Anyone pumped for ice fishing yet? I know i am since its colder now and "real" fishing has ended for me.

Well, I'm gonna ice fish a couple times for sure, but I think I'm going to spend more time up the Merrimack trying for smallies. I only did that a couple times last winter, but I got on quite a few, and that to me is better. It's just a little shady in my jon boat if there's any wind!  :P

I know your "name that spot" Shane. Its only a mile or so from my house. I plan on trying it this winter a few times. Ive been told to use live shinners there in the winter. Do you still go with artificials over the winter time when fishing that spot?

Yeah, I use lures, mostly plastics and jigs, but I have a buddy who comes with me there once in a while, and he swears by the shiners, too. He definitely does catch them pretty good on them, but I have outfished him with his live bait. Not easy, but possible. I shoulda gone today. That one in the picture, came on a Tx rigged Falcon Rage Craw, with a 1/4oz pegged tungsten weight.

Wow.  What determination to get out there Shane.  I've got cabin fever bad right now but everytime I think about going to the river, I step out, that cold air hits my face, and I turn right back around!    :P

I hear ya, man! I just wear a beanie cap, three layers, and bring a thermos of hot coffee. I just can't stand not being able to catch a bass for any real period of time. Kills me. I can't imagine living somewhere with a closed bass season.

The Merrimack, but it's tough if it's windy in a little jon boat!
