Cousin Vinny Posted July 4, 2008 Posted July 4, 2008 Anyone on the board from the lower half of Connecticut have any suggestions on where I can go for big LMB?? I have fished everywhere i knew of recently but I want some new places. I live fairly close to lower westchester NY also, so if need be, i can get a NY license. I've been to several ponds and lakes in Wilton, New canaan, Stamford, and Greenwich but while we caught some i was disapointed with frequency and size. Any locations or techniques appreciated Quote
Cousin Vinny Posted July 17, 2008 Author Posted July 17, 2008 saugatuck res Been there several times though i never realy focused on LMB there. Normally took my son when he was younger for sunnys. Its kind of hard to find an ideal spot there too. What do you think for bait?? Can you use minow there?? Quote
Cousin Vinny Posted July 17, 2008 Author Posted July 17, 2008 Candlewood and Lillinola... HUGE BASS! I knew about candlwood but never had a suitable lake boat. Never even heard of Lillanola. I'll look it up, thanks Quote

Perfect Hook Set Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 I believe candlewood lake and lilly are much further away from you then the res.... I am not sure if you can fish with minnows Though there are plenty of LMB and Huge SMB white perch and wallleyes. Though I believe you need a permit to fish the saugy res. I only fished there once my self and used a jerkbait and spinnerbait.. Both lures worked well What town/city do you live in? Quote
Megastink Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 You do not need a permit to fish either Lilly or Candlewood, just a valid CT fishing licence. It is SO worth the trip from anywhere to fish those lakes. Hey, anyone here fish the Bryon V. Kerchal Memorial in April? Quote
Cousin Vinny Posted July 20, 2008 Author Posted July 20, 2008 What town/city do you live in? Westport. Where are you?? Quote
Cousin Vinny Posted July 20, 2008 Author Posted July 20, 2008 Hey, anyone here fish the Bryon V. Kerchal Memorial in April? Sorry, no. I'm not ready for the big time yet. Quote
Megastink Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 I wouldnt call the Kerchal "Big Time". Unless youre being fasicious? Quote
Cousin Vinny Posted July 24, 2008 Author Posted July 24, 2008 LOL, No I wasnt being a smart a$$. I just assumed it was a sizable event. At any rate, I'm not ready for a cometitive fishing trip, thats what i meant Quote
fishizzle Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Candlewood is worth the trip--definately Lilli no fish---don't waste your time Quote
chuckd620 Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 Since you are down in Fairfield County like myself, try Pierrpont Pond in Ridgefield if you can't get up to Lillinonah or Candelwood. I've had some luck with some good sized largemouths there. Quote
Perfect Hook Set Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 chuck we should hit a lake or pond together Quote
chuckd620 Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 Sounds good to me. Let me know what type of schedule you have and we will get out there. I went today to Mashapaug, caught a decent smallmouth, about 3lbs and about 6 or 7 short largemouths. Quote
Megastink Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 Would anyone here be interested in fishing the Kerchal with me next year? I need a partner. A boat would be phemoninal also. Quote
