SuperVehicle001 Posted February 21, 2018 Posted February 21, 2018 Lake Remembrance has been on my radar for a while. Never got around to fishing it but I have a buddy in Lee's Summit that likes it. Always looking for new kayak water. 5 hours ago, redbirdsfan44 said: At least most of them are bank beaters and don’t know how to fish offshore I'm a kayak guy and I'm trying to learn offshore lol. In the summer those banks get beat to hell. Bass probably see a lure every 10 minutes. Quote
Drew03cmc Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 Ill give Remembrance a try this spring. Quote
redbirdsfan44 Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 going on at Rogers this weekend. Sales start tomorrow Pm me and I’ll send you the ad if you haven’t seen it. Won’t let me post the link for some reason 1 Quote
TinBoatBassin Posted February 24, 2018 Posted February 24, 2018 We hit up wolf this morning, first boat out at 8 am....thought the lake was closed when we pulled up since we figured there would be at least a dozen boats out already. Fishing was spotty, got almost all of the greens and whites from one point. Jerk baits produced the majority of the bites. Gonna try a cold water lake tomorrow, getting a little bored of wolf and lacygne. 1 Quote
SuperVehicle001 Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 Got skunked at Watkins Mill yesterday. Put in time near the dam crawling a c-rig as well as tossing an a-rig a dropshot and a jerkbait. Might have been too muddy for a jerkbait though. Quote
Midwest Outdoorsman Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 Went out to Lake Henry, the 3 acre trout pond up by Clinton Lake yesterday. A buddy and I fished with a kastmaster and a spoon for about 30 min then switched to crappie nibbles. Got nothing on either. I ended up switching to a white 1/6 oz inline spinner and caught my limit of rainbows. Quote

Back when it was still newly established and the access was limited it could be good. I had several good fish days out there from the bank. Mainly numbers, but some size now and then too. 1 Quote
TinBoatBassin Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 Spent a couple hours at Leavenworth on Sunday afternoon, put a handful of bass in the boat. Jerks fished painfully slow produced the majority of the bites. Water 39-40 3 Quote
hooks21 Posted March 3, 2018 Posted March 3, 2018 Spent a couple of hours at a pond in Platte City today. I wasn’t expecting much but tried a drop shot for the first time. Caught 5 dinks on the drop shot and 1 on a Ned rig. I was very surprised how close to shore they were all caught. Water couldn’t have been over 40 degrees Quote
tyson2925 Posted March 3, 2018 Posted March 3, 2018 Does anyone here have much experience on Shawnee Mission Park Lake?  They are doing their annual trout stocking next week and I was just watching a video on YouTube of bass in California eating trout as they are stocked.  Just made me think maybe there are some big bass in that lake assuming they are big enough to eat a full size trout.  Throwing some big swimbaits on those deep bluffs this time of year could be fun! Quote

If we had double digit bass like California, that would be a different story. Wyandotte opens tomorrow. Don't get caught there without a permit. the deputies do not give warnings. Last year it was a $50.00 fine. Quote
Russ E Posted March 3, 2018 Posted March 3, 2018 Went to Olathe Monday. water was 39 degrees. caught a couple small fish on a ned rig. could not get a jerkbait bite. water was stirred up. A lot of trash floating around. Fish were stacked up east of the dam in about 20 ft., but could not get them to bite.  Hit Leavenworth Wednesday morning. Water was 40 degrees. it was misting the whole time I was there. caught a couple small fish off of the rocks with a jerkbait. Pretty slow .  Went to Smithville today. Did not have the boat. tried Jerkbaits off of bridge rip rap. Did not get any bites. lake looked about a foot low. water felt colder than smaller lakes. 1 Quote

I've never swimbaited it yet, but will be in the future. That lake is coming back strong. It has some giant wipers too. Make sure you have the permits and follow all boating and fishing regulations for the county, the park police out there hand out tickets like candy on Halloween. Quote
tyson2925 Posted March 3, 2018 Posted March 3, 2018 Thanks for the replies!  It's 5 minutes from my house so the investment in additional permits is less than the gas to lacygne. Fished Gardner lake last weekend for a few hours.  Caught one fish on a shakey head, no bites on a jerkbait.  Water temp 39.  Going to try again this afternoon after the sun has had some time to warm things up.  1 Quote

Can you take a bass boat on that lake? I have only used a kayak there. If a bass can fit the trout in its mouth I am sure it would eat them. stocked trout are not the smartest fish in the lake. Last year at, Wyandotte, they were all 12 to 16 inches long and fat. Quote

Yes, but it's trolling motors only and no exceptions for loading them up either. 1 Quote

I am surprised how many small water supply lakes, Like Olathe, allow the gas motors. In Iowa if the lake supplied drinking water, you could not run the gas motor. 1 Quote

I don't start my motor on a lot of the smaller lakes, no reason to. Trailering isn't that hard, just back it in a touch further and stretch the strap out further. Quote
TinBoatBassin Posted March 3, 2018 Posted March 3, 2018 Hit up Lone Star today for a couple hours. The fish had no interest in jerks just plastics. They were grouped up and when you got bit you could count on a few more bites in that spot. Water was 46 and the bass fought harder than last weekend when we just pulled them in like dead weight. 2 Quote

JoCoJoKeR Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 Hit up Leavenworth with my dad and son Saturday morning. Water temp was 42 and the wind was blowing pretty hard. Dad caught a couple right off the bat with a jerkbait real close to the bank (NE arm) which I found surprising. Tried drifting over the flats with a wind sock throwing jerkbaits with no luck. Aside from those early two, no other bites...  We’re real interested in getting the permits to try out the JoCo lakes this year. SMP sounds promising, but does anyone have reports on some of the others?  KillCreek, Lake Lenexa (Blackhoof), and the new one just west of Desoto (I can’t remember the name)? Quote

SMP would be $50 for a combo fishing boating permit for me since I am not a JOCO resident. Is the fishing in SMP worth getting the permits for? Speaking of permits what about Wyandotte County Lake? Is it worth the $100 I'd have to spend to fish on my kayak? Quote

It's not known for the biggest fish in the metro area, but it does have smallmouth which are fun to catch.  If you live close to it, go for it, otherwise your better off spending your gas money to other waters. Quote

The JOCO permit gets you on SMP, Kill Creek, Heritage, and Lexington. It's worth it to fish all them except Heritage. Â I really like WYCO, but unless you're going to fish it a whole bunch, it's not worth it. Â Jacomo is the lake I'd focus on if you're wanting to buy a permit for a lake. Prairie Lee is included with that permit and is another pretty decent lake. It gets you on Blue Springs too but I've never fished it an heard it's tough. Quote
