Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted December 29, 2009 Super User Posted December 29, 2009 I am looking for an all around spinning rod. Most of the time, this rod would be for throwing senko type baits. Ideally, I would like to be able to throw shakey heads and heavier drop shots with it as well. Any ideas between the two manufacturers listed above? How about rod models in those two brands? Thanks fellas Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted December 29, 2009 Author Super User Posted December 29, 2009 Whoops, my mistake. Wrong section Mods, please move for me? Gracias Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted December 29, 2009 Super User Posted December 29, 2009 SJR783S or SJR843S These are the perfect in every way! 8-) Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted December 29, 2009 Author Super User Posted December 29, 2009 Looking at my options in GLX, I only see 6'6" models. I would prefer a 7' or longer. How do you like the IMX rod for this? Quote
Super User Raul Posted December 29, 2009 Super User Posted December 29, 2009 Cumaras are nice rods but not in the same league as the GLX, not even in the same league of the IMX. Yeah I know, the Cumaras look cool but I won 't buy a cool looking rod over a better blank no matter how cool the lesser rod looks. If I were on the hunt for a 7 fter I would go for the SJR843SIMX. Super User Dan: Posted December 29, 2009 Super User Posted December 29, 2009 I really hate to say it, but I have not been overly impressed with the sensitivity of my Cumara M/XF 7'2" rod. It replaced a St Croix LTB spinning rod of similar ratings but I regret it now. I firmly believe the LTB was more sensitive. Wayne, if you can find a deal, go for the IMX or GLX. If you can't, there are better options than the Cumara within its retail price range. Quote

Super User Dan: Posted December 29, 2009 Super User Posted December 29, 2009 What I meant was that for rods that retail for around $200 there are better options ;D Good luck with the IMX, I'm sure you'll be happy with that choice. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted December 29, 2009 Super User Posted December 29, 2009 Wayne, Fish the rod a bunch before May 2. If you don't like it for any reason, I know someone who will pay your full cost in cash with no shipping fee. : Quote
uicdent11 Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 What about the BSR852? It's at least 7ft and can handle all the things you listed. It also comes in a GLX. I have it, but have not used it yet. Seems to have the tip action that I prefer, but I have no idea what the top end weight range is on it. I can imagine it would work fine up to 3/16oz and trick worm shakey setup. If you want something for slightly heavier stuff then I think that 843 sounds good. Sorry I am not of much help. I could give a better review come April. > Quote

fathom Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 in spinning for bass, the sjr 3 power glx/imx is all you need. Quote
Craiger12 Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 I have the SJR843 IMX and love it. Great all around spinning rod and should work just fine for those applications you mentioned. Quote
