I coat all new cork rod handles in "U-40" Cork Seal. This product works extremely well for keeping stains off cork handles. I've been using this product for many years. Available from:

Look a few posts up. The rods do have the U-40 seal on them. That is why i am ticked. I thought it was suppose to protect them!?!

the fireline does it the least but it's the nature of the beast.just clean them like the guys said and you'll be ok.my fireline braid has actually stopped loosing color but is still a good shade of green.

YOU.............this is all your fault, you got me into this dodeguy! LOL, Just kidding man! Thanks for putting me on to the FireLine, i really liked it! I have some on a Revo SX that has almost stopped losing color and it matches the lily pads PERFECTLY!!!!!!

ROFLMAO!!!braid takes getting used to.i tried the magic eraser on my handles and it works wonders.it worked better slightly damp than dry.my handles look new.i am a auto tecnician so my hands tend to get the cork blackened.the eraser took all that off and the red pp stains and green sufix stains.it also took the stains they left on my reels off.the fireline braid seems to have stopped losing color and didn't stain nearly as bad as other lines.the only braid i know that doesn't stain is spiderwire invisibraid (white) but imho it stinks.was on my reels for 2 weeks and i ripped it off.

Dink, I don't have the answer to your question (nor have I ever experienced bleeding line).

In any event, I need to apologize in advance for ambling off-topic.

Cork has come to dominate the market for rod grips, but alternate materials are making a strong comeback.

When I was heavy into offshore angling (bluefish, stripers, tuna, shark, ~), I always specified "Hypalon Foam rod grips

for all my custom-built rods, which offer several advantages over species cork:

> Soft and comfortable (better ergonomics than cork)

> Never gets slippery from blood or fish slime

> Never gets soiled or sooty-looking (like an old cork butt)

> Attractive and available in many colors

To this day whenever I'm given a choice, I will always opt for Hypalon, EVA or Carbon rod grips.

Again, I apologize for going off-topic

I don't understand how some are saying that their PP or Suffix doesn't bleed!?! Those two are the worse at it IMO! FireLine seems to do it least or at least the slowest!

One of my rods has had the same power pro on it for about a year, the other about 5 months, neither of them have bled (the color has faded).

I hear ya RoLo, I just love the looks of cork though! I also dislike the feel of EVA. I haven't tried the others though.
