I'm not convinced the color of your line is all that important, but I still prefer something that blends with the water. "Smoke" blends well with stained water, green with clear water. Some whites and "clear" blend well, but not always (these are my least favorite).

Welcome aboard!

This might help:

Regarding line:

Spinning tackle: Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft #6

Baitcasting gear: Ultra Soft #12

sir i thank you for the suggestions, but the ultra soft #12 on the baicaster did not work out so well. I noticed on the line it said "ideal for spinning tackle" after my fifth cast or so the line bunched up on three different baicasters i rigged. Now its not an issue of me casting, cause i have been casting for years. It just seemend the line did not want to be on that baicaster, it seemend really thick... Did I get the wrong line, do you need to reel this one differently... not sure what the deal is...

Those years you casting mean nothing, I 've been casting with BCs for more than two decades with Trilene XL, XT and Big Game and the day I spooled in P-Line CXX 12 lb test in one of my reels I got a motherlord bird nest  ;)  as good as the ones I got when I began learning with BCs.

Lines behave differently, if you don 't like how the line behaves then spool in what you are used to, if you want to try with new line then you have to practice until you get it right regardless of how much experience you think you have.

well ok but to be fair, this wasnt a birds nest, this was the case of the line getting in the way of itself... it wasnt backlash either.. it just seemend hte line didn't want to reel out smoothly... it you looked at my reel you can see how some line was bunched together on the left, other line was bunched together in the middle... hopefully i can take a pic later...
