klamoth Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Just got a Crucial drop shot spinning rod in the mail yesterday and plan on pairing it with a Pflueger President spinning reel 6730x and 6# Yozori soft line. what do you guys think rod and real? would this good for tubes and worms? Quote
Shadcranker Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 I have the Crucial DS rod, and IMO it is way too soft for worm or tube fishing. It would be very diffcult to drive a hook home with that stick. With a small exposed drop shot hook, the fish tend to hook themselves, but with a shaky head / tx rig, or tube jig, you really need to be able to set the hook fairly hard. I use it for two things- drop shotting and fishing a #5 shad rap. The extra length helps in casting the shad rap, and the soft acton helps in keeping the fish hooked up on the shad rap. Quote
Super User Tin Posted March 7, 2008 Super User Posted March 7, 2008 Everytime Matt 5.0 and I take a trip to BPS, we always have to play with it and I'm considering buying one. It seems perfect for dropshotting and wacky rigs. But thats probably about it. I'm jealous. Quote

ksdog Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 I have the crucial DS 72M with a daiwa exceler 1500 and 6lb line. Excellent for swimming grubs and dropshotting. I use it for smallies and walleyes. Decent rod. Quote
