this may be a mook question, but i'm still trying to figure out which applications are best for which type of rod/reel combo. i made a list of my 4 main setups and how i plan on using them this season, and i realize some of them aren't best suited for the applications i have planned for them but i really can't be spending loads of money on different combos for every type of fishing.

any suggestions on how i could better use these setups would be very welcome, as i'd like to get the most out of what i do have.

Fenwick HMG-AV 6' M Fast 1/4-3/4oz with a Pflueger Supreme 8035 spinning setup - t-rigged senkos/stickbaits, worms, lizards, other soft plastics

Fenwick Eagle GT 6'6" M F(?) 1/8-3/4oz with a Pflueger President 6035 spinning setup - crankbaits, swimbaits, jerkbaits, topwaters (thanks RW!)

All Star Pro Series PR786C 6'6" MH Fast 1/4-3/4oz with an Okuma Nemesis NS-200W 6.2:1 baitcast setup - jigs

Shimano Convergence 6'6" MH Fast 1/4-3/4oz with a Pinnacle Platinum LP100 6.2:1 baitcast setup - spinnerbaits & buzzbaits

I think you're in fine shape!

Does the Fenwick Eagle GT have a soft tip? For treble hooks I like Moderate Action, but Fast Action with a soft tip is just fine. That would probably be my choice for topwater, too.

i'm pretty sure the eagle gt has a fast action to it. it's not marked on the rod or in the factory code, but it feels very similar to the HMG which does have a fast action. i forgot about topwaters when listing that stuff but those would have been included with the eagle gt.

From Femwick:

Classic Fenwick® performance at an entry-level price. Now any angler can step up to a performance rod. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned angler, the Fenwick® Eagle® GT IM6 graphite series is built with the same legendary philosophy as the HMG® series. With an action tailored to the application, it's a rod whose performance far exceeds its price. The Fenwick® Eagle® GT is also constructed with Hard Chromium SS304 Guide System which is 20 times tougher and up to 55% lighter than conventional aluminum oxide guides. Soft, sensitive tips detect even the slightest takes, while powerful butt sections help gain an advantage over any fish
