MediumMouthBass Posted Tuesday at 07:12 PM Posted Tuesday at 07:12 PM Id fish where i live, the largemouth lakes range from 20-120 acres and hold big ones. Not CA or FL/NC/TX/AL big, but 4-8lb bass get caught regularly during pre spawn, and theres also a chance (even though slim) of catching a 10 too. However these lakes are high pressured and numbers arent great, an average day thats good is 1-4 catches, and great would be around 10 catches. The smallmouth lakes are good for numbers though (even for largemouths), 10-20 is considered good. These 2 lakes grow big smallies too, the one i caught a 4lber at and the other (which is PA's largest lake in volume) has had a few 6lb+ smallies posted online, along with trout so big they could feed a few family's. The local reservoir is 400 acres, but only bank fishing allowed. Great smallmouth/largemouth population, but they are usually under 3lbs. However this place has a rock wall where numerous monster sized walleyes have been caught. Then theres a small pond, bass and panfishing is very crappie (see what i did there?) but theres very big pickerel in it. Sometimes i like to catch them! And within 5 minutes is the Susquehanna river, a great day is considered 50 smallies. Average between 5-20, they are often 1-2.5lbs but theres an occasional 3 mixed in, several walleyes here too. And theres also once again some monster walleyes in it. 3 Quote

Just listening to him explain his day. Yeah, that would be cool. One could learn so much. I'm amazed that a few folks, instead of going for a fantasy pick, would choose to stay home and fish with loved ones or partner up with one of the BR gang. If I were to choose the latter, I'd take @Blue Raider Bob/Bob fishing. I'd be up at three to make him sausage, eggs, and taters and then I'd put him in the bow of my canoe and park him on top of bass. He'd catch bass until his thumb said, "UNCLE!" I'd be happy to paddle, point, net, and photograph. Everyday, I'd take him someplace new. Oh, the things he'd see! 2 Quote

My magical week would be with my dad fishing anywhere. I wouldn't care if it was in the back yard. Just to have more time with him would be all the magic I could stand. We would head for the old river oxbows in eastern Arkansas and drop crickets on a snelled hook under a quill bobber by a willow tree. The cicadas would be calling, the Bullfrogs would be pleading, the breeze would be moving the Willow leaves ever so slightly. The beavers would be busy. Turtles, snakes, and muskrats would be disturbing the still water. We would be hot and sweaty, but dad would have brought along Dr. Pepper in the old 10-2-4 bottles and we would have a treat. The bottles would reek of fish as they were in the same ice as the Bluegills but we would wipe off the film and enjoy.. It would be getting dark and I would beg to stay. The mosquitos would be deafening along with the swamp creatures of the night. We would drag the boat up the bank to the old trailer and head for home, already dreaming of next trip. 2 Quote

Super User gim Posted yesterday at 01:00 AM Super User Posted yesterday at 01:00 AM In 2018 I went on a 3 day guided saltwater fishing trip to Key West, FL with my Father. We had that trip planned for nearly 3 years in advance. That’s the one I’d like to do again above the rest. I hope to even go back again someday. Although it will probably be with my son instead of my old man. 3 Quote

papajoe222 Posted yesterday at 04:23 AM Posted yesterday at 04:23 AM I'd be back in '65 crappie fishing with my dad (he passed not long after) off the Buckhorn bridge on CastleRock lake. We'd fish for walleye during the day and crappie at night. Some nights we'd limit out on big crappie and be up until midnight cleaning them and putting them on ice. Heck I'd still do it if we didn't catch a thing. Currently, I'd love to fish Bcacarac with Andy and Jeff. 1 Quote
SC53 Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago @A-Jay let me rephrase that, not “ now” as in today, but in this timeframe as opposed to back in the day regarding Stick Marsh 😜🤣 1 Quote

Super User F14A-B Posted 18 hours ago Super User Posted 18 hours ago Roosevelt Roads.. waiting on the Tarpon to herd the shrimp into the sea wall where we began to throw jigs.. Super User TOXIC Posted 17 hours ago Super User Posted 17 hours ago Some chapters of that book have been written but it’s no where close to being done. I can go back to chapter 1 in my mind, fishing with my grandfather and grandmother in Saskatchewan with a Native American guide and including doing a fly in to a remote location. Shore lunches with 8lb walleyes and my grandmother caught a 25lb pike. My book continues through all the years of guiding, going to lake St Clair (22 years straight), going to different destinations in Florida for the last 5 years, going to the St Lawrence last year all deserve chapters in my fishing life book. It’s far from over and I’ll cherish every trip I make until I put the final period after the final sentence. So many fish, so little time. 3 Quote
