volzfan59 Posted August 18, 2023 Posted August 18, 2023 While poking around an antique shop, I found a Mann's Razorback crankbait in a fire tiger pattern. It looks kinda old and a little rough. I've removed all the hooks and split rings, plus gave it a bath. I picked it up for $2.00. Has anyone ever heard of this crankbait? Quote
Super User scaleface Posted August 18, 2023 Super User Posted August 18, 2023 I had several back in the day . They were decent baits . There were a long bill's and squarebill's. Sometimes there would be one that did not wiggle , strange .No matter what I'd do it just would not tune. 1 Quote

I'll replace the hooks and hardware and see if it runs true. If so, I'm going to have it repainted. Thank you again. 1 Quote
Super User Team9nine Posted August 18, 2023 Super User Posted August 18, 2023 Razorback was Mann’s line of crankbaits in the 1970s, around the time of the rise in popularity of the ‘alphabet style’ plugs. They had both a shallow and deep diver, and eventually made a scaled down version called the Piglet. These morphed into some of the Hackleback lineup, and then eventually the Plus Series of crankbaits (10+, 15+, 20+, 30+) in the 80s. 6 Quote

papajoe222 Posted August 19, 2023 Posted August 19, 2023 It’s the only crank my wife will use in water under 8ft. deep. I had two, I lost one, I haven’t heard the end of that, and she keeps the other one where I can’t find it. 3 Quote

detroit1 Posted August 19, 2023 Posted August 19, 2023 I bought a 6 pack of the squarebills back in the day from an advertisement in a magazine. The add talked about a husband & wife caught 100 pounds of lm on some lake down south below a dam.... 1 Quote
