ironbjorn Posted September 16, 2023 Posted September 16, 2023 Hmmmm I find this odd. I fish the regular KVD 1.5s a lot and they absolutely fly off into the sunset on everything from Black Max reels to Shimano SLX XT reels, from 6'6" M/MF rods to 7'2" MH/F rods. It makes me wonder about your particular reel and its settings. Quote
Super User WRB Posted September 16, 2023 Super User Posted September 16, 2023 Your Mojo 7MHMF should be able to cast 3/8 oz crank baits with ease. As suggested earlier I believe the reel is the issue and Shimano SLX MGL 70H (6.2:1) with Sunline Armilo 11# or 13# line will solve the problem. I looked at lots of crank baits and can’t find a substitute of KVD 1.5 you like. The SC Victory VTC72MHMF Cranker is a little longer rod but your rod should be fine. You hold the rod tip higher to reduce lure diving depth. Tom 1 Quote
Super User Munkin Posted September 18, 2023 Super User Posted September 18, 2023 Throw that bait all day long on a St. Croix Premier 7'MHM crankbait rod. I do like the LC crank better than the SK in 1.5. Allen Quote
Super User Darth-Baiter Posted September 18, 2023 Super User Posted September 18, 2023 i do this all the time. i use the TW inventory as a search tool. i can type in 1.5 crankbait in the search and they all pop up. the first one i found was the LuckyCraft DRS..which is half ounce. Quote

Yeah it doesn’t show the dimensions tho, 2.5” can have a wide range of shapes and girths. I am specifically looking for the small profile of the KVD 1.5, a lot of the heavier (1/2 oz) are big and fat.
