volzfan59 Posted January 22, 2022 Posted January 22, 2022 I'm a huge fan of Gamakatsu hooks. That said, I was in our local Walmart a couple of days ago for cat food. When there, I always check the Fishing Dept. although it rarely changes. The have Berkley Fusion hooks on clearance for two bucks and change. Are these hooks any good? Quote
Super User islandbass Posted January 22, 2022 Super User Posted January 22, 2022 For that price, I’d give them a try. 1 Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted January 22, 2022 Super User Posted January 22, 2022 I agree with @islandbass, $2 and, if needed, a sharpener works for me. 1 Quote
Super User DitchPanda Posted January 22, 2022 Super User Posted January 22, 2022 The fusion hooks are great IMO...almost on par with gama and owner..they are for sure a premium hook. And for around $2 a pack I'd buy everything they had that I have a use for. 3 1 Quote
bigspirit Posted January 22, 2022 Posted January 22, 2022 I have a few Berkley lures that have them, the hooks on them are sticky sharp! I’ve never tried any of their other offerings though 1 Quote

I really like them after I receive gift package full of them, I understand that the have special coating and they are really really sharp, I am happy with them specially the wacky weedless which improved my hook up to bite ratio. 1 1 Quote
volzfan59 Posted January 22, 2022 Author Posted January 22, 2022 Thank you for all the replies! If memory serves me correctly, the majority were EWG 3/0, four or five to the pack. I think that there my have been some trebles too, but I'm not sure. Off to Walmart! 1 Quote

Those weedless wacky's are awesome. The flouro weedguard is outstanding. WAY better than wire IMO. 2 Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted January 23, 2022 Global Moderator Posted January 23, 2022 I can’t remember if I’ve used them or not but they sure look sharp. I was pondering on putting some of the big thick ones into big 5-6” paddle tail swimbaits 1 Quote
Super User WRB Posted January 23, 2022 Super User Posted January 23, 2022 Somethings that are excellent don’t appeal to Walmart shopper and by policy it must be cleared after 3 months. Tom Quote

Super User Sam Posted January 23, 2022 Super User Posted January 23, 2022 The Walmart fishing department buyer wants to clear the deck with the hooks, therefore they are priced to move. Go for it. For $2 a pack you can't go wrong. 1 Quote
heavyduty Posted January 23, 2022 Posted January 23, 2022 Checked my Walmart today and they are still full price. I have used them in the past and been happy with them. Quote
