So I already have several jig rods and I've got an extra reel begging for another one. I'd like to keep the price down on this one if possible since I've spent about 8 million on gear in the past 6 months. Lets say sub $80?

Diawa Procyon 7'3" MH/F - https://daiwa.us/products/procyon-freshwater-rods

Okuma Reflexions B 7'3" MH/F - https://okumafishingusa.com/products/reflexions-b-series

I have Procyon and Reflexions spinning rods and they're really good rods for the price.

If you can come up with another $20 ARK's Lancer Pro is a whole lotta rod for the $$$. 7'3" Mag MH is an awesome jig blank. It'll pitch 1/4+ trailer pretty well with the sweet spot being 3/8 - 3/4. Sensitivity is better than a Champ IMO.

Both seem like solid options...buddy has a 7' medium fast procyon casting...feels like a nice rod for the money.

I have a Tharp series Ark rod that I really like. Wish I would have picked up a lancer pro during the TW sale.

I have the Bucoo SR rod in the 6'10" Hvy-Fast jig model. I love it. It has the right tip and plenty of backbone for fishing jigs in heavy cover with the drag all but locked down. I bought mine off Amazon. The next rod I buy will probably also be one of this line. The only rod I maybe like better is a Falcon LowRider.

10-4. That was a steal. The rod I mentioned is the same blank as the Tharp Money Maker. I have both. Seat on the Lancer is similar to the Fuji that Dobyns uses. Guides are generic but seem decent quality.

I have a Defy Black that I love. They're all about $60.

I have the previous model Defy Black (with the cork handle), 7'1" MH/F. It's a great jig rod for $60, nice parabolic action if that's your deal for jigs. I ended up preferring a faster action for jigs so I don't throw them on it anymore, but it handles them very well. Sensitive and light for the price, punches above its price point much like the Aird-X does IMO. I've thrown traps on it, spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, Texas rigs, topwater. Good do-all rod with nice backbone but that softer tip.

How do you like the lancer pro compared to the tharp?

Hands down the Fury 735c. Great backbone and relatively sensitive tip. Pair it with a Curado K.

I think the Tharp is worth the extra $30, but the Lancers and Cobbs are great values. That's one heck of a blank at that price point. I prefer the fuji guides, and the Tharp reel seat for most reels, but the Tharp seat was kinda cramped with the small SLP framed Lew's pro SP, so I bought the lancer to pair with it. Tharps are very comfortable for me with an LFS frame or larger though. I bought a Cobb "One More" because they don't offer that blank in the Lancer, Tharp, or Invoker lines. I'm very happy with it too, same seat and guides as a Lancer.

Thanks for the info. The reel I have is a small framed reel so I think ill go with the lancer.

If you already have a bunch of jig rods maybe try something for a technique you don't have a lot of. IMO a jig rod isn't the rod I would choose to go budget on. Thats especially true when you have other rods you like for the technique. When I'm itching that bad to buy something, but need to keep it cheap I have gone for frog rods or other topwater techniques since sensitivity doesn't matter. For example, I picked up an old 7'4" HF Bass X rod for $50 bucks about a month ago specifically for frogs. They're on heavy sales when you can find them due to the new generation coming out. It would rival any $80 rod Ive fished in the past for jigs as well.

These ARK's aren't your average $99 rods. 40 ton Torray blanks in all series from $99 to $249, with handles, seats and guides determining the price point. My Kaden 744, 765, and Sierra 766 have been collecting dust since I picked up the ARK's. I like them better than my buddies Champs too. Lighter and more sensitive for the same power. Every one I have has been built on the spine and well balanced too.  I currently have 11 of them. Best rods for the $$$ I've ever run across.

I'll take your Dobyns if they are just sitting there and pay for shipping!

I can only relate what I use . An Okuma Epixor 7 foot hvy action . I like the beefy cork  foregrip which is a deal breaker for most anglers but a must for me .  75 dollars.

So do you like the lancers more than the cobbs? How much power difference is there between a medhvy and a mag medhvy?

Have you thought about just getting a standard lightning rod? I actually really like them for the price.

I haven't but I'm not sure why not. I have a new gen 7ft medium moderate fast and its a great trap rod for the price. May be worth a look..but I am leaning towards can ark.
