Whole new level of pucker factor!!! Nothing like having your trailer trying to pass you down a 20% grade to keep you on your toes. Thankfully we usually only have a handfull of those rodeo days a year.  some guy dumped just such a tanker into the ocoee river a few years ago, I believe he was relieved of his driving duties 1 Quote

The cost of cleanup and fines for a spill is enormous. Drivers are always one major screw up from having to find a new career. We run alot of back roads hauling from the wells to offload and processing facilities. It's a pretty sweet gig when it's not snowy and icy. Pretty darn scary when it is. That cat GIF is pretty funny!!! 1 Quote
Super User Bird Posted November 25, 2021 Super User Posted November 25, 2021 When I was younger I really enjoyed the 4 seasons but now find winter to be quite boring. Fortunately no longer have to drive 80 miles in inclement weather, retired.  My best friend for over 40 years bought a new bass boat so if we can get a few nice winter days, we'll launch.  Other than that, I'll hit the home gym and help my brother at his sawmill on Saturdays and hope for an early spring. 1 Quote
padon Posted November 26, 2021 Posted November 26, 2021 winter sucks. i hate the cold more every year. and it feels really strange not planning my next trip thinking about where the fish may be located etc. im gonna hit the woods though and build some brushpiles and have them ready to put out in spring. hopefully in summer they will pay dividends. This is another thing a buddy and I plan to do this winter. Assemble a few small piles and lay them out on the ice late winter in good strategic spots. 1 Quote

I have only one question I need to answer before then; Braidwood, or LaSalle? Once the holidays are over I start with fishing projects. Those include building a new rod for myself or a family member, tying up a bunch of hair jigs and a few feathered trebles, along with getting the gear and boat ready for the season. I'll also make finite plans for two fishing trips for the season, one to the south early and one to the north in July. I also spend a lot more time here than I do during fishing season. Kind of like group therapy, it seems to help. Quote

We got a taste of that down here near Dallas this year. It was 10 below on my porch. It was kinda cool the first day but I like having power and being warm. And fishing. I don't know how y'all do it. I'll take the 105 degree/45-50% humidity days on the river if I never have a freeze like that again lol Quote

I couldn't do that I'll take catfishing with a heat index of 115 in the summer?? Â Funny enough my cousin lives in Maine and has invited me to go ice fishing. I am going to do that. Quote
thediscochef Posted November 26, 2021 Posted November 26, 2021 All that said, sounds like a good way to pass the season and maybe learn some things along the way. I crawl down a YouTube hole just about every night doing this. I hope yall have a good winter Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted November 27, 2021 Super User Posted November 27, 2021 I am moving to Ray Roberts next summer. I think you can fish year around there and everywhere else in Texas. Pre-spawn is just around the corner. Â 2 1 Quote
PourMyOwn Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 I have about 100 jigs that I have to paint and tie up at the kitchen table. I'm horribly inefficient, so that should take me well into 2024. 1 Quote

Super User Darth-Baiter Posted November 27, 2021 Super User Posted November 27, 2021 My good friend just moved to Minnesota.  I want to visit him in the dead of winter.  He ice fishes so there is that, but more importantly; I just kinda want to see how people live in our northern climates.  I can’t imagine it at all.   Are there fresh fruits and veggies in the stores?  im Californian.  I just climbed a tree wearing shorts to reach the last of my persimmon.  the worst of winter (for me) are the friggen leaves. I hate cleaning up after a tree pukes it’s leaves.  I just finished, and the next wave of leaves are already falling.  I will kayak fish tomorrow. Quote

Believe it or not, there’s actually tractor trailers full of produce on the highways every day, even way up here ?.  1 Quote
