Your 3000 size spool is the same diameter as the 2500 size spool, just smaller arbor size to accommodate more line to will never use.

You have the reel so put some backing on it. Line over .010 diameter will tend to have too much memory for 2500-3000 size spools regardless of the reel mfr. keep the line .010D or smaller that you intend to cast.

The SC Victory VS71MF is a light weight rod 3.5 oz, well made with top guides and reel seat with excellent cork handle design. Sensitivity is between the anglers ears.

Thank you, I’ve been looking into the Victory rods and that 7’1” MF looks perfect. Might swing by Scheels next week to see if they got one or order one online if they don’t

I've been using a St. Croix Bass X (the new version), 7' 1" M/F and think you'd be very happy with it for those applications and you'd save yourself some money for baits since it's below your price range. I've got a Diawa Regal 3000 LT on mine and it's a nice combo for an affordable price.

Maybe I am missing something. So you can teach me something. But when I was shopping for a new casting rod. I looked at the Bass X and the Mojo Bass rods. And I went with the Mojo Bass. It was only $20 more. And you upgrade the blank from the SCII to the SCIII. And I think the guides are better too. But I could be wrong on that. But just for the blank upgrade for $20 makes it a no brainer for me. So what don't I know that makes the Bass X more desirable considering how close in price they are?

Nothing wrong with either of them. I've got a Mojo spinning rod that is one of my favorite utility spinning rods I've owned, but I'm really happy with this new Bass X rod also and it's been very versatile.

$20 is $20 and not a no brainer to everyone. That's several packs of plastics, a few cranks or spinnerbaits, a couple jerkbaits, a good spool of line, 1/8 of a tank of gas to get you part of the way to the lake, not just something to throw away for the frugal minded anglers.

Well I’ve narrowed it down to the 7ft MF Zodias, 712s Kaden, and the St Croix Victory based on Tackle Warehouse availability and y’all’s input, thank you ?. As far as the Victory, would the 6’8” MXF or 7’3” MXF be better for Ned, Wacky, and Shakeyheads? That’s mostly what I’m throwing on it. And I only use fluoro/mono on my spinning reels so I’m not too worried about the XF action lol
