The bait monkey hasn't been around for a while and any injections it might have given me have worn off. I had some money put back for my fishing fund. I took some of it and went to Lowes today and bought some stuff I needed to do some work around the house. So take that bait monkey. You have been defeated. :neener:

I congragulate you! I try to spend as little as I can every year, I have only spent around $150, just getting soft plastic refills and trying swimbaiting with budget options. It can get really depressing spending hundreds of dollars on fishing, its become a materialistic sport that revolves around tackle more than catching fish. Most humble begennings of just needing a few eagle claw hooks for panfish and a new spool of monofilament can quickly lead into what many here do. Im not telling people what to do with their money, they worked hard for it. I just think its bad for the heart mind and soul.

I’ve defeated the bait monkey for months now. It’s been extremely easy this year because of work being so busy this year, we sold our house and are currently moving, and there’s a possibility of a decent sale coming up soon, so I’ve deliberately held off spending money in preparation for this upcoming sale. If it doesn’t come to fruition I guess I’ll have plenty of money for Black Friday.

This 'buying season', I've already purchased one reel (used Patriarch for $98) and I'll be buying one rod when the big sales start.

That's gonna be it for tackle this year - rest of my 'Yule gifts' are going into the F-9.

You poor, foolish man. You've been lulled into a false sense of security. You've already had your taste. You'll be back for more.

First it will start with dreams about fishing where in your dream you finally found that magic bait. But the dreams are hazy, and you can't quite make out what it is on the end of your line. Somehow you manage to avoid Bass Pro and Tackle Warehouse even though your starting to jones.

The next thing you know you're at a Walmart Super Center to pick up milk and underwear and you find yourself down the aisle for fishing gear. You're done.

You wake up two days later in a pile of your own drool (but with fresh underwear) on the banks of your favorite fishing lake. You have no idea how you got there, but you notice you have 20 packages of new Zoom soft baits and two boxes of Walmart spinnerbaits.

No one defeats the Bait Monkey. You've just delayed the inevitable.

Bait monkey has been defeated until black friday. Of course that may be his way of just convincing me to spend more because there's a sale. I'm curious about the following:

Hildebrandt Okeechobee Special Colorado Willow - Tackle Warehouse

Picasso Invizwire Pro Willow Indiana Spinnerbaits - Tackle Warehouse

Mann's Hank Parker Classic Colorado/Indiana Spinnerbait - Tackle Warehouse

Omega Genesis Ti Spinnerbait - Tackle Warehouse

Luck-E-Strike Rick Clunn Trickster Spinnerbait - Tackle Warehouse

Stanley Vibra-Wedge Spinnerbaits - Tackle Warehouse

Anyone else know about these spinnerbaits or used em? There would be some blade changing going on but a couple of these have interesting mechanisms allowing you to make blade changes easier. The Omega Genesis Ti is especially very interesting but I'm concerned that this lure might be an attempt to catch fisherman. The quick changing clevis is an innovative idea seemingly..... but how does it affect the lure?? Hmmmm

It's letting you spend your money because it knows the next purchase will require a loan. You have the new boat bug yet?  Because it's coming.

I ordered a new Shimano JDM Reel yesterday. Thought better about it and cancelled the order. Just got online and ordered 2 of them and 4 spools of JDM Toray Nylon. Oh well. Brian.

He's just been too busy with me to bother with you lately. He's talked me into 2 Kadens, 2 Sierra's, 4 ARK Tharps, 1 ARK Lancer Pro,1 Curado BFS, 1 SLX XT, 1 SLX MGL, 1 Lew's Super Duty, 1Lew's Pro SP, 2 Penn Battle III's and at least 50# of terminal tackle this year. It's shameful. I have a birth defect that makes me especially vulnerable to him. I was born without a willpower. ?

That's just awful. Hot Yoga might help.

I did buy a thousand yards of 12# Tatsu, but I'm just quietly waiting on the release of the DT8, I wonder how many colors there will be. We'll have to see how it moves.

"First, we kept the body size of a 6. That seemed to be perfect. But, to get it to run a little deeper we lengthened the bill and did a few other little adjustments. We now have a bait that’ll dive to 8-feet on 12-pound-test line, and down to 9-feet on 10-pound-test line. If you want to go even deeper with this fantastic crankbait, drop down to 8-pound-test. That’ll make it run at 10-feet or maybe a little more."  - Ike's Blog

I’ve been pretty good this year, a few new bags of plastics, spool big game. Most of my purchases have been at yard sales.

A boat doesn’t count right, I mean, it’s not bait.

I'm doing pretty good at ignoring the bait monkey. I can't even remember the last time is was in a tackle shop. I don't even check stuff out online much right now. I have walked through the fishing department at Wal Mart but they didn't have anything I didn't already have.

Home depot didn't have what I needed in stock. I may go to Lowes again tomorrow and spend some more fishing money on hardware.

I enjoy my gear and tackle collecting almost as much as I enjoy the act of fishing and catching fish. Everything about the sport is very good for my mind, heart, and soul.

That won't happen. I just bought a truck about six weeks ago. That has me far enough in debt right now.

I have a little obsession with spinnerbaits but yeah it's like you said, it's like a secondary hobby that I absolutely love.
