I can't comment on kayak tournaments...

But yes, he could walk right into the Elites if he wanted. I believe he said at the beginning of the season that he wanted to requalify the old fashioned way. So I can respect that.

Like him or not, the dude is pretty dang good a catching fish no matter the format.

I don’t think he’ll fish the Elites if he qualifies. I think he’s enjoying things the way they are now.

He has always been one of my favorites. He gets a bad rep because he's over the top and in your face...but if you listen he's also very knowledgeable and easy to learn from. People that mistake his craziness for lack of ability are dead wrong. He's won over $3million in his career...has several minor league and top level wins..a classic win and an AOY trophy. Top that with baits he's designed for Berkley and missile plus his signature rods and reels from Abu Garcia...dudes no joke.

You forgot the BASS Nation championship, no other angler has won all three.

Ah yes I forgot that one. Still think I made my point...dudes a stud! When he won the elite at the Delaware river that was chaos. It was like a movie...local dude on a very tough fishery coming thru and beating everybody down.

Some tournaments allow 30 or 60 minutes after end time to upload pictures.  Most that I have fished do not.  It is your responsibility to get to a place with service before cut off time.

You think he's truly happy? He's fishing the Northern Opens and is in second place behind only Brandon Palaniuk. As well as fishing the kayak series as well. That's A LOT of dedication for a guy who isn't trying to scrape by.

Next year it will all come out.

Both Powroznik and Ike elected to not fish BPT this year

Both are likely to qualify for the elite series next year.

**** Thats when we will hear that Boyd wouldn't let them buy out of their contracts like Palaniuk and Swindle did. 100% speculation on my part. ****

There's no doubt that his record speaks for itself.  However, the shenanigans, boisterous attitude, and loud mouth character on camera is something I can do without.  I've never met the guy in person so I can't comment on what he's like off camera, but pretending to be professional wrestler while everyone is watching says a lot about a person's ego and is something I can't get on board with.

Personally can’t stand to watch the guy. Might be great at what he does, but I think he watched too much pro wrestling growing up, and as an after thought he probably thinks that it is real.

His 'in your face' attitude kinda reminds me of Randy 'Macho Man' Savage.

Makes for good theater...which creates branding that is good for building a career around.

There is usually a time limit for picture submission. If it is lines out at 3:00. Pictures would have to be submitted by 3:30. That is one of the things a tournament kayak angler has to take into consideration is "do I have cell phone service".

I think he is. His podcast seems to be successful, he is home a lot more, still has a ton of sponsors, and has another show coming out that looks interesting.

I've always heard that he's great with fans..very funny and personable.

This podcast is a really good listen: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/kayak-bass-nation/id1451018207?i=1000460088367 He’s not big leaguing or anything like that; he’s just a dude talking about fishing. Either he truly LOVES the sport and the competition or he’s one hell of an actor. It goes without saying he has serious skin in the game but I get the feel he’d do it for free.

Saw a video on YouTube once where he lost a tournament in a sudden death round; he had a fit, broke his rod and then threw it in the lake. We all have our moments but that left a very bad impression on me. It’s the throwing the rod in the lake that bothers me.

I automatically mute the TV when he catches a fish during a MLF event.

However I agree he is a darn good angler.

I’ve thrown several rods in the lake. Hooked them on the back cast

I know he isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I love the man!  He and his wife do some many great things for kids and getting them involved in fishing, especially the inner city kids that may not have someone to get them into the sport.  He may be loud and obnoxious at times but I believe the man has a heart of gold.

I love Ike.  I understand why he wears thin for many people, and I cringe at the really over-the-top stuff too... but I find his intensity and enthusiasm absolutely infectious --  nobody else radiates pure joy for fishing like he does.
