Went Thursday 12 am and fished to 8:30 am. Started under a nice bright night light(96% Moon) and tried all my Summer night lures for 86 degree water at all my spots. Around 4 am I sat down drank some coffee and had some crackers and tried to devise a new and improved plan. My new plan consisted of continuing to keep moving and do what I was doing until the bite opened. So I did and at 6 am I hooked a 5 - 5.5 LM on a black quad blade buzzbait in 18 inches of water and she was angry but I was able to get her boat side and with my net in hand she jumped and was gone. I wasn't upset just glad I was given a sign of what to do. So for the next two hours I threw buzzbaits which turned out to be casting practice that produced 0 fish. At 8 am I headed back out to a 13' deep hump surrounded by 60 FOW and threw a shakey head and caught my one little baby bass in 28 FOW. I cast a few more minutes and loaded up because that heat lamp was cooking me. I love it. I'm going tonight for some more casting practice.

Nicely Done ~ Night Ops are such a different bass fishing experience.

I will offer however that super full & bright moon light events are usually tough sledding for me.

Especially when compared to no moon totally pitch black trips.

Clearly the full lunar experience can make the fishing a whole lot easier,

but in the clear water here, the fish seem of act like it's high noon.

The darker conditions routinely put the bass shallower and often more willing to take a poke at my baits.

Just something to think about . . .

Here's a little more info I typed up a while back on the subject

My local doesn't allow night fishing because it is a county park and it closes at 1030. Kinda sucks because I remember loving night fishing .

I'm with A-Jay on this one. Bright nights, I chase the shade just like on bright sunny days. I also throw more bottom contact baits. Football jigs, (Both standard and swing), big worms, and my favorite, a chatterbait crawled along the bottom. I powder coat my chatter blades. I don't want any flash from them. Since I started doing this they seem to eat it better, both in number of strikes, and how deep they take it.

Went again this morning from 1am -9am. Hooked a big fish shallow around 3am on a black quad blade buzzbait with fresh Gamakatsu trailer hook and after 7 or 8 seconds she just came unbuttoned. No idea, maybe hooked in the face(outside the mouth). It was a cannonball explosion strike and I never even turned her. Caught a LM at 4am on a T - rigged craw in 25 FOW and a Spot at 6am on a Shakey Head in 30 FOW. It was another bright night with a 97% Moon. Water is 88.5 degrees and the fish aren't happy. Looking forward to cooler weather & water.
