January of 2009, we made the 6 our drive to St. Louis to pick up our second Yellow Lab...Daughters named him Zeke.

We have been through a lot together. He didn't hunt as much as his predecessor, as my daughters were just getting in to sports...and I divorced their Mom shortly after we got Zeke.

The daughters and this little guy lived with me full time.

Twelve and a half years later, we've expanded our family (the current Mrs. Daubs, and her two boys), added a canine brother in Spotz, moved houses, graduated three of the four from high school...one finishing college next year, another finishing graduate degree next year.

Old Zeke (aka, Mr. Floppy Ears), has been a great companion and part of our family!

We have spent the past few days eating all the things you shouldn't feed a dog (ice cream, cookies, chips) sleeping on the bed, and getting lots of love from everyone in the house.

His last visit to the shop this morning...

Looks like Zeke had a full and happy life. Sorry for your loss. There is no more devotion than a dog can give. I have 4 of them sleeping all around me right now as I type this on my computer.

This is sad.  Reminds me of my current dog, a 9 year old british yellow lab.  She looked almost exactly like your dog did when she was a puppy too.  May Zeke rest in peace.  Its the memories that you'll have for a lifetime @DaubsNU1.

Having had to put down our Golden Retriever, Lucky, a few months ago, I know the pain one feels.  They're not just a pet, they become part of the family.  Our Yorkie is probably in her last year and i'm not looking forward to that day.

Condolences for your loss.

It may be hard for some to understand,

how our friendships with dogs go hand and hand.

Together you formed a unique and special bond.

You've laughed, played, cared and shared,

I'm saddened for you that Zeke's has passed on.

Not long ago, we lost our yellow lab, Lady. 12 yrs a loyal trusted friend,  bank fishing companion, and all around great dog. We're still saddened when we think about all the good times this dog brought into our lives. I'm sorry for your loss. I understand the feeling.
