Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted July 4, 2021 Global Moderator Posted July 4, 2021 Just beached the boat after idling around mapping my lake. My primer bulb keeps losing prime. I’ve narrowed it down to the connection point where the fuel line connect to the outboard. It’s either the male end or the female end that has failed. They look fairly easy to replace. Has anyone replaced them and are they as simple to replace as they look? Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted July 4, 2021 Super User Posted July 4, 2021 I have not ~ But a new fuel line with fresh new bulb & a couple of new connectors seems like a solid fix. ? A-Jay 1 1 Quote

A-Jay Line and bulb don’t show any signs of weathering but they’re cheap enough that I am going to just replace the whole deal. Doing some more research I’m thinking the o-ring on the female end could be bad. Off to Wally World. Quote

Super User Log Catcher Posted July 4, 2021 Super User Posted July 4, 2021 You might be need to go to a dealer and get a fuel line setup that ethanol won't damage. A dealer changed mine out because I was using lines from Wal Mart. They said ethanol would eventually cause problems with them. Quote
Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted July 4, 2021 Author Global Moderator Posted July 4, 2021 Struck out at Walmart, but all was not lost. The patrons never cease to disappoint! ? I’ll check around this week and find one. Quote
desmobob Posted July 4, 2021 Posted July 4, 2021 This is one of those situations where I'd shell out the dough for factory/OEM parts. I suffered for a long time with leaks and hassles with an aftermarket brand fuel line set for a small outboard I had. I finally replaced it with a Mercury set and it was a whole new ballgame. 1 Quote

I always go into an auto parts store and buy hose by the foot and a primer bubble, then some hose clamps and make my own. What you might need from wal mart (or a boat store) is the connectors that clamp onto the ends of the hose and plug into the motor and tank 1 Quote
