Just looking for the best practices.  I've used markers...Does this spook the fish? Where do you throw them for precision?  I've went over the spot from numerous angles to make sure I'm at the location...Does this spook the fish?  Is this best for accuracy?  What works best.  I'm new to the "Garmin" world.  Thanks to all.

How deep is the water ?  Do you have spot lock or power poles ?  If the water is shallow you don’t want to keep passing back and forth over it. If you are planning on fishing it use your spot lock or if shallow your PP.  If you have neither drop your marker. And start fishing.
If your running electronics and your going to be fishing it later mark the spot on your screen and save.

If it's shallow I feel the boat running over the spot spooks the fish temporarily.  If it's marked on my GPS I'll get within 40 or so feet and throw there.  If I run over a good spot I'll drop a marker then go back and put it on the GPS.  Deep, 20' or more, brush piles I usually go right over it and drop a worm or spoon and watch the locator.
