pauldconyers Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 I have just been blown away watching LiveScope videos on YouTube. It is not even so much using it to catch fish that is appealing to me but the EDUCATION it would give me. This technology currently is only available through Garmin, correct? Roughly how much would I be looking at to get what I need? Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted March 15, 2021 Super User Posted March 15, 2021 Garmin has Livescope Humminbird has Mega 360 Lowrance has Livesight All pretty much the same. You're looking at a couple thousand to get into it...minimum. Quote

Humminbird is coming out with their own version of live sonar at some point (was supposed to by now). 21 minutes ago, pauldconyers said: I have just been blown away watching LiveScope videos on YouTube. Say you had a boat with no electronics on it and you were building from scratch. You cannot just get "LiveScope" and be good to go, correct? You have to get a main, compatible unit to start with and then I should view "LiveScope" as an add-on, correct? Quote
moguy1973 Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 The cheapest MSRP for a Livescope transducer is $1500 and the cheapest graph it works with is the Echomap UHD 73cv for $650. Both can be found much cheaper on sale or in a bundle though. I would think you would want a bigger screen than 7" though too. **edit** In fact, at Bass Pro right now they have the UHD 73SV with side imaging for $449 which is a smokin' deal for that unit. 27 minutes ago, pauldconyers said: See that was another question I had. Yep, it's not stand alone, it's a separate transducer that hooks up to a graph with other sonars on it. 1 Quote
Super User Team9nine Posted March 15, 2021 Super User Posted March 15, 2021 Yeah, if you catch things on sale, pretty much $2,000-$3,000 to get into the game right now if you don't have one of the newer compatible units already. More than that if you want to go bigger than a 10" screen. Lowrance is Active Target and is out. Garmin is Livescope. H'bird hasn't officially released anything yet, and heard it might be a bit before they do now. Quote
Super User Deleted account Posted March 15, 2021 Super User Posted March 15, 2021 BPS has the transducer and compatible units in the Spring Classic. I'll probably wait for the next generation before jumping in. I agree that you want the largest screen possible, as well as one that doesn't get too washed out in the sun. I doubt that I will fish it like a video game, but It's nice to be able to see not only the fish real time, but how they react to different baits and presentations as a learning tool. Quote

That's what I am saying. While great to help catch fish it just seems like an INCREDIBLE learning tool. Quote
Super User Way2slow Posted March 15, 2021 Super User Posted March 15, 2021 Now that the GT56 transducer is out, and they are calling the new Echomap UHD 7 and 9 series, version 2.0, with the GT56 transducer, (but probably the same unit) they are starting to run clearance sales on the ones with the GT54 transducer. BPS just had the 93SV for $450 off and still have the 73SV for $350 off. If you happen to have a military ID they give another 5% or so off. That's only in store, not online. Garmin Factory outlet will probably run the same sale before long. If you buy the Live scope, from any Garmin dealer, you will $1,500. The live scope has it's advantages in some situations, but the more I research and learn about it, I would not want that as my only transducer, so I don't see a benefit of buying a unit with the live scope but without the GT54/GT56 transducer. I walked out of BPS with the 93SV, with the GT54 transducer for $609. I could add the live scope for way less than they sell any package with the Live Scope for. So, if you are considering a Live Scope, I would suggest you jump on one of the 93SV sales at $450 off and then look at adding the live scope later, it will save you a bunch. Quote
00bullitt Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 Right now, 93sv UHD with GT54 transducer is on sale for $599 at Bass Pro. I saw Livescope somewhere a few days ago for $1299 plus the $200 rebate. With tax about $2k. Best investment in fishing I ever made! Quote
