Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted February 22, 2021 Global Moderator Posted February 22, 2021 We avoided most the winter weather that hit the rest of the southeast. The water won’t be quite as fast as it was during the 2019 classic but it’s rolling, flood gates have been open for the last couple days. I believe she was flowing 60,000 every single day during the classic in 2019(although the announcers talked about the current “changing” everyday and it didn’t change a drop). Right now it’s flowing at 45,000 and should stay pretty close to that for the tournament . Last time It was a crankbait fest with lots of nice fish caught, I’m guessing it will be similar but the water should be clearer, maybe some more soft plastics will come into play. im pumped, who do y’all think will win? Walters and hackney are hard to bet against 2 Quote

Super User Catt Posted February 22, 2021 Super User Posted February 22, 2021 What body of water? ? The one on the Sabine River 30 minutes from my house was rescheduled to August. Quote

Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted February 22, 2021 Author Global Moderator Posted February 22, 2021 I’ve seen several wrapped trucks in parking lots along my work route today and one blue boat fishing the bluffs along the pellissippi parkway bridge (interstate 140). I cross that bridge twice a day and haven’t seen anyone fishing anywhere near there since probably October 1 minute ago, Catt said: IDK! Hackney on a river, he grew up fishing rivers. But Walters is an animal ? It’s the same water they had the classic on in 2019. River and lake are one and the same here. I was slightly surprised last time they came that nobody went upstream of downtown but that’s why they are the elites and I’m setting squirrel traps 3 Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted February 22, 2021 Author Global Moderator Posted February 22, 2021 Here’s your current water color, pretty “clear” for this time of year despite a doozy storm this morning 3 Quote
Super User J Francho Posted February 22, 2021 Super User Posted February 22, 2021 I wouldn't know who to pick, but it's kind of fun seeing these guys compete. I watched them on SML and Oneida years ago. 2 Quote
Super User Catt Posted February 22, 2021 Super User Posted February 22, 2021 It's exciting when they're in town, I'm taking my 14 year old grandson to a launch & weighing. 5 Quote

Heck some of my buddies get mad when they see other boats near places I have showed them like they own the place haha 2 Quote
Super User J Francho Posted February 22, 2021 Super User Posted February 22, 2021 I think it was Hackney we ran into on SML. We were fishing a cove, and he asked if he could jump ahead, and look for a fish he found in practice (think about that statement for a second!). We told him go ahead, but KVD had beat the snot out the area a few minutes earlier. He was all, "Awe man, I don't think that matters much!" LOLOLOL. 2 1 Quote
PotatoLake Posted February 22, 2021 Posted February 22, 2021 I had Hackney, then Walters, then decided to go with Cherry. He had a lower pick percentage. I have thinking he’s pretty good with a flatside and at flipping docks. Which means he will miss the cut knowing my luck. 1 3 Quote

GReb Posted February 22, 2021 Posted February 22, 2021 I’m gonna say Zaldain and Mosely will be top 10. Both guys coming in hot after a poor performance in Florida Quote

Unfortunately that success caused him to “lock it” into his hand on the final day where he got next to nothing 2 Quote

My favorite was not a tornado but a large chuck of the mountain fell onto highway 129 back in 2009 or so. Cops and tv cameras everywhere and this guy ramps a sedan into the pile of rocks!!!! Said he didn’t notice the mountain was laying in the road and the guy was stone cold sober . I grew up not 6-8 miles from this spot 1 2 Quote

Super User gim Posted February 22, 2021 Super User Posted February 22, 2021 I know we’re in a pandemic, but if anyone has the inclination to attend a weigh in, I would highly suggest it. I went to one in 2015 and 2016 at Mille Lacs and it is something I would do again. Just to see the rigs those guys use in person is quite astonishing. 1 Quote

I’m Having some truck problems, we will have to see how that goes. I’m off Saturday and Sunday, I learned in 2019 that all I can do from the water is park strategically off to the side of the channel and watch them drive by, no hopes of following Quote
Johnbt Posted February 23, 2021 Posted February 23, 2021 "if anyone has the inclination to attend a weigh in, I would highly suggest it." They're great fun. I keep saying I'm going to see another Classic weigh in, but I always go to the beach or just go fishing instead. The last ones I saw were at the Richmond Coliseum in '88 and '90. There will be another Northern Open just down the street on the James in May, so that will have to do. Unless I go fishing. 1 Quote
