The Pa boat and fish commission just change opening day state wide to April 3rd. The manual is wrong. The commission was just on Pa outdoors and made the announcement.

The whole state opens up the same day.  I don’t have an issue with that. But the weather will be night and day difference between the NE & SE portions of the state. Like wise the other sections.

Use to all be the same day years ago. I Remember quite a few times fishing up in Susquehanna and it would be snowing and guys from work would fish southern counties in a tee shirt by noon. Would not be surprised if it snowing this year coming in two weeks earlier.

You got that right Spankey. It’s way colder and different up here.

I ask myself every year why I take the trip up to punish myself with the colder weather and not just stay home and fish the Little Lehigh or Branch.

I have family up there and it’s worth it. But there are times when the weather is as nice. I don’t want to make it sound like every opening day as terrible. That’s not the case.

Not at all I’ve fished opening day with shorts and sneakers wading in the Schrader creek then the next year having blizzard like conditions. Variety is the spice of life.

You guys are lucky, I wish our trout season opened in early April.  Ours doesn't begin until the last Saturday in April.

Unless they pull the BS they did last year. Our opening day was scheduled for mid April. We were headed to a lake around a hour and half away with the boat in tow to bass fish when my cell phone rings. My friend is calling to tell me the game commission just opened the trout season. No warning or letting people know. I was peeved but then I thought about the guys and gals who scheduled there vacations from work. They were really screwed.

Judging by all the PA plates in the lot, I always thought the opener was April 1st in NY for PA anglers. ?
