Super User Jigfishn10 Posted December 7, 2020 Super User Posted December 7, 2020 Would you recommend fishing braid in rocky structure? Was hoping if you could help refresh my memory. Thank you Quote
Kyle S Posted December 7, 2020 Posted December 7, 2020 Personally, I wouldn't recommend fishing braid around rocks. I tried it once and learned my lesson. 1 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted December 7, 2020 Super User Posted December 7, 2020 Braid yes but had to have a stout & fairly lengthy leader. I was a full on jetty jockey for a Looooong time. Braid and at least a 50lb mono leader was the order of the day & and night. Barnacles make zebra mussels look like cotton balls. #tugowar A-Jay 2 1 Quote

Kyle S Posted December 7, 2020 Posted December 7, 2020 As @A-Jaysuggested, braid to a leader around rocks is a win. Straight braid around rocks (what my mind immediately assumed)not so good. At least in my short time as a wannabe-fisherman Just now, Kyle S said: As @A-Jaysuggested, braid to a leader around rocks is a win. Fishing braid in that was just an exercise in futility. Now I use Trilene Big Game, and I'm happy. ? jj 1 Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted December 8, 2020 Global Moderator Posted December 8, 2020 Rocks will slice through braid but it takes a little while. You can see the line shredding cast after cast we have more rocks than dirt, that’s why we take corn in liquid form ..... 1 1 Quote

Hewhospeaksmuchbull Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 Odd man out, I fish rock daily zero problems with straight braid which I use exclusively. 1 Quote
mcipinkie Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 If a rock will cut your 30 lb braid, it will cut your 12 lb FC or mono. If you like braid, throw it. 1 Quote
Super User J Francho Posted December 8, 2020 Super User Posted December 8, 2020 Do you have zebra mussels? They should make braid scissors out of them. They don't seem to have as much an effect on fluorocarbon, or other mono lines. 1 1 Quote
