Gliss

For those who've used Gliss for some time now, what do you think of it? Is it holding up?

Great for open water. Not abrasion resistant, so bad for cover situations.

Quick answer Paul, it has not held up.  The 40# flattened and began to fray after not a lot of use.  It was on one of my less used rods so was probably used less than 50 times.

Seeing the same thing: loss of slickness followed by some fraying. I've been using both J-Braid8 and Gliss and now cannot tell the two apart by eye due to the loss of coating/fusing(?) in the Gliss. Been using it for finesse fishing and has been nice there, esp for winter fishing.

Gliss was ultimately abandoned for me too. The heavier stuff stands up better. I can see why it's popular with saltwater anglers but it's not well suited to my fishing.

 

My tourney partner was field testing Slick V2 this year and we were both really impressed. I also tested the Hitena braid and I found it to be too fine for my tastes. It was hard to see to tie knots and kept slicing through my FC leaders.

I think I may have initially had unrealistic expectations for this string.  Looking for it all.

Castability, manageability, no stretch and lasts for ever.

In the end what I got was a line with many of the better properties of braid but the durability of dollar store mono; without the price.

I certainly will.

But if the major brands continue to utilized the three card monte marketing strategy, it may never happen.

I've read better reviews about Polybraidofilament. And it comes in high vis clear brown.

Gliss is great stuff if you reverse it after about a half dozen uses. And that's in open water. It begins to delaminate right away until it becomes about double its original diameter. I went back and forth with it until I finally retired it.

The absolute best post I've read today. Really needed that laugh.

It's good for baitcasters, not spinning. Way too many wind knots with spinning. Frays easy, especially around cover. But it's very quiet through the guides.
