I ended up getting the 7’ aird-x heavy paired with a lews speed spool lfs (very purdy reel btw) and gonna put 50# power pro on it.  Got some  googan filthy frogs black white and bullfrog on the way as well .  Now we wait for winter to end lolol.

Also hoping I can successfully flip some heavy jigs with this same setup in the thick stuff that my med/hvy dobyns won’t do well in

Put backing on it - I use 10# Big Game.

1) Prevents the braid from slipping on the spool

2) Saves money as you only spool up 70yds of the braid instead of filling the reel

Oh - what gear-ratio did you get?

7-5-1

With the Lews - that 31" per turn and close to the speed I like for a frogging reel. Should be fine with that.

I've got a Fuego CT-XS 8.1:1 on my Aird-X H/F - 33.9" per turn.
