I have experienced some drag issues with my 2500xd fuego. It usually slips when I set the hook but then will "activate" once I start fighting the fish. I have some PowerPro Super slick braid on it, so i was wondering if that was the issue.

Does anyone have a reel diagram for it? I bought it used without the box.

Any help would be appreciated!

Is the braid the only line on the reel? One issue with most braids is that they slip on the spool. Putting some mono backing on the spool under the braid usually corrects this issue.

We were due for one of these threads ;)

Did you spool up with just the braid, and no tape or backing?

I use a layer of electrical tape over the arbor knot to stop slippage, if that's your core issue anyway.

Something I've learned using no mono backing, secure the line with a uni knot to the spool.  Give the line a good 5 or 6 wraps around the spool, tie your knot, and cinch it down good.  It won't slip.  I learned this watching Japanese fishermen on YouTube.

I only use mono backing if I'm trying to fill up space on the spool. The electrical tape method is faster (no extra knots) and has worked flawlessly for me for over twenty years.
