Lundbass Posted July 18, 2020 Posted July 18, 2020 Hi! First time posting long time viewer. I purchased an 1875 Pro V Bass this year and have been struggling with the holeshot. The boat has so much bowrise when taking off it’s really aggravating to drive. The boat does have some extra items on the rear I’m wondering if are the issue along with the motor setup. Below is the setup... 200hp L4 Verado 22p bravo1 4 blade prop. Motor mounted on 3rd hole down from top. (2) talons 12’. (2) blue top optima batteries mounted in rear. 36v fortrex (3) batteries mounted upfront. Always trim motor all the way in when taking off. Not sure where to start to resolve this but I can’t imagine all these boats have a holeshot like mine. With the motor trimmed all the way in when you take off the nose will point sky high During the holeshot. If the live well is full its 2x worse. Also while moving through no wake zones slowly the boat is really hard to keep in a straight line. I’m always having to steer back and forth to keep it straight. any ideas? Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted July 18, 2020 Super User Posted July 18, 2020 Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ I have the same boat, talons, one less battery and with a different motor, which is mounted in the second hole from the top. Not certain the 1 inch difference between holes matters all that much. Almost sounds like the trim is all the way up at take off, rather than down. Perhaps look at how your rig sits in the water at the dock from the side. It can help give you an idea of how the gear in your rig is distributed. If you're very stern heavy at rest, it can affect how quickly a rig gets on plane; especially once you start to add heavy humans. Also at a super slow speed, like just clutch ahead, my rig wonders a bit as well. Product of the IPS2 hull design I figure. Either way, my rig 'pops' up on plane in short order and honestly, I carry A LOT of gear. A-Jay 1 Quote
Lundbass Posted July 18, 2020 Author Posted July 18, 2020 Thanks A-Jay I am really familiar with your setup! I gotta say thanks for all your videos it helped me make some decisions when buying the boat. Here’s a picture of how it sits in the water with just me 185lbs. Not sure what it is, I know a lot of guys run the same setup. I figured it had to be something with the motor placement? The cavitation plate definitely sits above the pad when trimmed in. Not sure if that’s correct for this boat. 1 Quote

Your rig's Pic looks pretty close to mine rig as far as how it sits. I forgot to add that when I re-powered I added a 6 inch manual jack plate - didn't make a ton of different in the take off & ride but it does 'change it some'; for the better. It's pretty tricky trying to help you resolve this at my keyboard. My advice is, rather than beating your head again the wall trying resolve the issue yourself, take your rig to your dealer, have them run it and then fix it. In the long run it may save you a ton of time, $$ & head ache. A-Jay Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted July 18, 2020 Super User Posted July 18, 2020 Have you checked your prop to pad height. 3 1/2” is the typical place to start. Quote
Born 2 fish Posted July 18, 2020 Posted July 18, 2020 What props are both of you running and What pvs plugs the four stroke usually doesn’t need venting solid plugs usually work the best in the 4- stoke. Quote
Tim Kelly Posted July 18, 2020 Posted July 18, 2020 Is your motor fully tucked in in that photo? It looks like it's trimmed out a bit. If the motor isn't tucking in fully you might well have the problems you describe. 1 Quote

I'm running a 21" Tempest Plus, all plugged on a 200 ProXS. A-Jay Quote
Lundbass Posted July 18, 2020 Author Posted July 18, 2020 Thanks guys for the info so far...The prop is a 22p bravo1 4 blade all plugged. Im going to try and get the prop to pad today so I can rule that out. The motor isn’t tucked in the picture. I was in no wake zones and I’ve noticed it tracks better with the motor trimmed up a bit. I'm in Louisiana and don’t have a Lund dealer, had to go out of state for the boat...do you guys know if the trim is adjustable? Is it possible the motor isn’t being able to tuck in all the way? Never had a motor of this size before ??♂️ I’m gonna get some pictures of the motor trimmed to make sure that’s working correctly. 1 Quote
Super User slonezp Posted July 18, 2020 Super User Posted July 18, 2020 My Lund is second hole from the top as well. Slightly different hull than yours and a 225 2 stroke. 23 Tempest with no plugs removed. Your L4 Vrod has a similar weight to A-Jay's ProXS. Got to be something else going on. 1 Quote
Lundbass Posted July 19, 2020 Author Posted July 19, 2020 Not sure if you guys can see in the picture by on my motor the bolt is in the 4th hole from the top. Is this correct? Still trying to get my prop to pad measurement. I agree something must be going on...I’m also not very picky, but it really is a lot of bowrise on takeoff. Quote
Quarry Man Posted July 19, 2020 Posted July 19, 2020 is all the weight on one side or the other, like left and right? Quote
Lundbass Posted July 19, 2020 Author Posted July 19, 2020 I would say it’s pretty centered main weight is... (3)12v trolling batteries are centered up front under the rod locker (2) 12v cranking batteries batteries behind driver seat (2) talons obviously on rear and I don’t carry any heavy gear. Just fishing poles and life jackets. what do you guys think about the motor being placed in the 4th hole from the top? Quote
Tim Kelly Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 Sounds a bit high, compared to other people's set ups, but hard to imagine it's causing your issues. It might be worth calling Lund and asking what prop they recommend with the 200 Vrod. I'm sure they will have tested it thoroughly and will have a suggestion. It might just be that the bravo isn't the best with that set up. 1 Quote
Lundbass Posted July 21, 2020 Author Posted July 21, 2020 I agree Tim, I’ll try to give them a call. I’ve wondered if the 4 blade was the problem also. Not sure if any of you guys have tried to speak with Lund directly? I called once to ask about the pitch on my prop and I remember them saying all questions had to be directed to a dealer...possible to speak directly to Lund? I’ll try calling and see what I can get. Thanks! Quote
